I have a power antenna on my orange car. There is a thread on here about it. That could be another option for you.
I deleted mine. Put a new CD, MP AM/Fm stereo and fit it into an original radio bezel. Has the old look with the new system. I mounted an under the dash antenna like found on boats. Works really well. I always wondered if I should have kept it all the same but when I started the radio bezel was gone and the antenna and radio were some sort of late '70s plastic looking set up. Didn' look good at all. So, filled the hole for the antenna and did the above--mainly because I LOVE my original Grabber hood!
I took Russ's idea and went to NPD and bought a fox body antenna delete plate today $9.95 looks good and I can put a power antenna in later....
That's the exact antenna my friend has under the cowl of his golf cart. I can tell you 100% that it beats a stock antenna! -Scott H.
Mine never had one either. Love the look without it. I also have a rubber one under the dash, picks up my local stations fine. I usually listen to CDs or the flash drive with my favorite tunes...
I had to snip off two of the clips and used the included double sided trim tape... It was the same size and shape as my original antenna base...
Yup just a simple plastic pc. looks right at home there, I kept the hole in the fender so I can add a power antenna later....
I'm kinda the same way. Cars from the 70's had antenna's. With a power antenna....you have the best of both worlds.
I'm gonna weld the hole up for mine. I'll just use an ipod or a hidden antenna. My antenna of choice used to be a "security" antenna that a local parts store sold in the 80s. It was a nice stainless antenna that was manual to raise or lower and locked with a key like a lawn mower key. When it was down it was barely noticable. I haven't seen those in years.
I told the body guy today to go ahead and delete the hole. Time now to work out the am radio to hidden mp3 amp..
I saw a write up once about gutting a factory radio and installing components to run a MP3 player. I think it was on HAMB. I thought it was pretty cool but I'm ok with my aftermarket. I might try something like that in my Mustang.
