What would you like to know ? very Fast and the best sleeper I have ever seen, Breaks the tires loose at 80mph... Mustang II Rack...C4 tranny. biggest issue was moving the master cylinder and brake pedal assembly and running fuel lines. Would like to take credit but it is a friend of mine and he can build anything. don't want to dis the ford crowd but he is putting a manacharged LS3 in one of my Camaro's as we speak. a 1980 version. Hopefully all under the hood. I am not loyal to any brand...anything as cool as his Maverick deserves KUDOS. I love the darn thing. like I told him...that has a cool factor of at least a 10. You would never expect a Maverick to leave vettes and Camaros sitting at a stoplight scratching their head. Not to mention a few Mustangs. The car is so light it's just unbelievable. Almost need a G suit. Still working on trying to harness all that power. I have been tring to get him to go to a lube joint or the ford Dealer to get an oil change....Would give a hundy for the look on their faces when they open the hood. If anyone is wanting any info on the build I can get any info you need. I should have taken some pics during the build but didn't...was too busy chuckling. This my friends, is one really cool Maverick...and that is coming from a mostly Chevy guy. Although, I just like cars in general. especially cool ones. His will only get nicer...paint and interior are real clean for original but he has plans for all that after he gets the chassis dialed in.
oh Snap! Dang that's awesome! This build is exactly what I want to do with my 1970 Grabber. Could you give us a run down of what your buddy did to make it work? For example; Did you cut out the shock towers? What kind of bracing is in place so you don't torque the car? Any motor or tranny mount mods? What year c4 matched that engine? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and a must have question is how much did this cost? Thank you so much.
Here's a good thread on a coyote swap in a fox body: http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/the-turbo-'builds'-board/1990-gt-coyote-swap/ Also this guy just got an '12 GT and is selling the engine if anyone is interested in buying one: http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/the-turbo-'builds'-board/brand-new-2012-let's-get-stupid/
Yes shock towers gone No bracing yet working on that. Doesn't hook up yet so not a real problem but on the list to address as new tires are ordered Made motor mounts and relocated cross member Mustang II front end with rack and pinion steering, I think from fatmans might be someone else Tranny I will have to ask what year Cost...just parts he builds cars for a living
Oh yeah, brake pedal and master cylinder had to be moved...that was a pain Reinforced firewall and moved pedal and master cylinder .
Will do...I just found this site. I have been telling him I was going to put it on you tube because I didn't figure it had been done yet but I never did. I had these pics on my phone so I just threw them up quick I will be gone until Monday. I will try and video and shoot some pics than weather permitting. Supposed to snow tonight
The conversion is sweet. Looks completely like it belongs there. As close to factory as you can get. Very well done....quite the conversation piece. He used most of an exhaust system off a 2010 camaro with x pipe and all. Different mufflers and no cats. Headers came with motor package
That's awesome. I'm so jealous I'v been saving for sometime to put a coyote 5.0L in my 70 Mav but you beat me to it. Props to you though. It must be a blast to drive. I have some expensive plans for my car so its taking forever just to get the money together.
