nothing done this weekend. Waiting on the slave cylinder bracket to work on the clutch stuff. And waiting on my fuel pump stuff I ordered to put the fuel system back togethor. I did get a fuel pump eccentric from my dads pile of stuff so now I need to pull the timing cover off and put that on when I get a chance. Looks like I wont make my new Years goal to get it togethor. Only days I have left to work on it are the weekends that are filled with holiday crap. Wasnt it September when we pulled the AOD trans out?
Well at least your holding true to form... BTW, which pump did you order? I want to be able to take a look at it before you install it. I've got something up my sleeve for mine...
I ordered a cheap 6 psi 80 gph pump off Ebay for $39. I couldnt find any 6 psi pumps except for the Edelbrock for $95 and I didnt want to run a regulator or run 8 psi straight to the carb. So I got an inline fuel pressure gauge to put in and will see what this cheap thing puts out. Even at 80 gph it should be plenty for around town driving and should be able to keep up on the strip.
Well apparently I ordered the WRONG PUMP. I was bouncing around all over ebay and ebay stores trying to find everything I needed at one place. I found a place that had all the fittings I wanted, small inline gauge, and had a FORD fuel pump. The other ebay stores I was looking at only had the FORD small block pump. I wasnt paying attention and ordered a 351C pump. So now we wait another week to get the right pump.
after reading more about these cheap pumps it seems they arent really 6 psi like they are advertised. they say 80 gph at 6psi, some say 130 gph at 6psi. but the say they shut-off is set at 8 psi. so how is that a 6 psi pump? Looks like Im doomed to use a regulator with any pump except the Edelbrock. I realy want the Edelbrock pump but cant drop $100 on one right now. But I do still have my regulator that I took out. I could just put it back in and re do the fuel lines which I have to do anyways. I have a friend with a new Holley 130 GPH 8 PSI pump I can get cheap, so i'll probably get it. Im thinking of mounting the fuel regulator above the pump on one of the holes in the front of the cylinder head. Then run hose out of the regulator, through my aluminum filter, put small gauge inline after filter using -6 male to -6 female fitting with 1/8NPT port, then to the carb. I want ot reduce the amount and length of hoses as much as possible and keep it compact. Im using aircraft grade 3000psi Stainless steel pipe flared for AN fittings. Should look good when they are polished up.

Gene I sw that pump and questioned it being what they sayit is. Its the same part number I have in my database at work for a stock replacement. I called my contacts at Carter and they have no idea why Summit and other places advertise it at the ratings they do. Carter has no series of pumps calle d"Muscle Car" series. And the pump does not meet the specs that Summit it displaying. Somebody got ahold of some bad data and its on the web in a few different places. Anybody who buys that pump will be in for a surprise when it dosnt flow what they think it does. I will have this pump at home later today, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-12-289-13. Getting it for $30 new in box from a friend ofmine that bought it when we clearanced out a bunch of stuff from out stores.
Well that sucks....I was hoping to convert that pump to use the six cylinder pump lever. When can I come by to look at the pump?
