A Maverick is what the owner makes of it. You can build it on the cheap side like I did and enjoy it like I do, or you can go all out like Dave Boyer, Dan Hines, and Craig Selvey just to name a few, and enjoy it.

It all depends on the owner. Spend as much or as little as you want, make it the way YOU want it, but most of all, ENJOY IT !!! :thumbs2:

Now back to the bumpers.......I painted mine because at the time I didn't have an extra $600 bucks to get them re-chromed. I would still like to have shiny chrome bumpers, and one day I might still, but for now, I'll stick with my painted bumpers. They look good, I get compliments all the time on them, and they serve the purpose.

Like I said above, do it your way and enjoy it!!!!
As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters. Neither way is right or wrong.....

I just saw an NOS headlight switch on ebay go for $31. Not the entire switch....just the KNOB. That has got to help. :D

He should've took it. Getting an offer like that in this market is very lucky. $20,000 will go a long way towards a car right now.

I'm not that worried about the money. Around here our economy isn't doing too bad, the right cars still sell for good money, if anything I know a few Canadians that have been scooping up nice cars out of the US.
I'm shopping for a Model A right now, I can get a way nicer fully restored car from the states, than I can buy a local car that was restored 20 years ago.
Either way, do what you think is worth it, one more fixed up Maverick or Comet is better than one more going to the crusher.

Good for you Frank. Had I not just ordered my new wheels and tires I would have bought both the front and rear bumper from him.

I recieved the front bumper yesterday and let me tell you it is absolutely flawless..... Not a ripple or wave anywhere and the chrome is bright and clear, he wasn't joking when he said show quality.....

Someone out bid me on the rear but it worked out anyways..... When he contacted me about the front he said he has another rear that wasn't done yet..... He told me since I bought the front he would make me a good deal on the rear, and it should be done by the end of this week.....

my take on the worth of these cars...
untill we start seeing these cars (more than one) show up on Barret Jackson and in some of the top collectors show rooms, these cars are worth what ever you (think) they are.
does anyone know of any hard core Ford collector that has a restored plane Jane Maverick in their collection? these are the people that have a low opinion of these cars...
what someone said they would give you and what you sold it for are two different things.
untill someone sells a Maverick for...$20,000+...it's only worth that in their head. as anything...it's only worth what you sold it for...the rest is in your head or what someone said it's worth...:yup:
they may be worth more in Canada but here in Georgia...we still have them sitting on used car lots.
Mike just bought one not long ago off a car lot...:thumbs2:
I had a guy ask about buying mine at the Perry show. we didn't talk money but it makes you feel good knowing someone thinks it's worth something...(i paid $50 for it when i bought it). i had a new windshield installed in it yesterday...$350...does that make the car worth $400...
some think if i painted it then it would be worth more...$5000 paint job...then would the car be worth...$5400 ?...and at that price i would be getting 5K for paint...$350 for windshield but still only $50 for the car...:yup:
:hmmm:...what about my...RCM rack and pinion, new front/rear bumpers, new motor, new transmission, tires, wheels, detroit locker, new carpet, headliner, seats, Dakota Digital gauges, ETC, ETC, ETC.
    $20,000 invested...is that what it's worth...that's what me and Hagerty think...:yup:

    ...JMO...

    ...making ...:chirp:...priceless...
