I wasn't trying to sand the edges, but I aparrently went over the edge in that area by mistake(more then a couple times)..... I understand what you are saying..... I have painted, wet sanded and buffed a few in the past..... At least this screw up is repairable, I think so anyways......

Thanks..... I wish it was done now.....

I am really surprised I went through anywhere with how much clear I put on it..... I am going to get some more on that edge atleast when I fix it tomorrow.....

What ya gonna do!!!! Sh!t happens as they say.....

Finished wet sanding the roof this morning..... After that I fix the paint when I broke through wet sanding, atleast I think I did..... I dusted a little color in there and then applied 4 coats of clear to the area..... From some angles I can see the spot but from others I can not, so who knows..... I'll just have to wait and see what it looks like after it's all wet sanded and buffed..... I'll post some pic's of the repaired area, it look really good in the pic's..... In the first pic the color look a little funny du to the heat lamps being on it.....

Another option if I am not happy with the spot I fixed, I could just put a vinyl top on it( this is something I have considered since I started this project, I just like the way a full vinyl top look on these cars).....

I also learned a little something about getting the clear to lay down a little better(less orange peel)..... I used a little smaller tip on the gun and a little more air pressure, the clear layed out nice this morning.....

    Here some pic's.....

Finally started feeling better this week and today I went down to the shop and did a little work, if you can call it that..... I finished running the buffer over the damn thing and decided I just wasn't that happy with the way it looked..... I missed a couple dings, but the worse thing was my finish body work just wasn't up to the task..... There were some sanding scratches that showing in the basecoat that I was not happy with..... I probably should have just went with the solid(non metallic) color in a single stage enamel and most of it probably wouldn't show.....

I didn't look too bad but I just wasn't happy with it, so I started sanding it down and fixing a few little spots along the way in preperation to repaint it.....

I forgot the camera, so no pic's today..... No much to see anyways....

Frank, That happens often. Sometimes those small imperfections don;t show up until the shiny stuff gets laid down. No big deal, fix what bothers you, then do a quick reshoot. It will be perfect then for sure!!

You're sounding pretty discouraged there Frank. In your shoes, I'd probably be a bit ticked off too. But you've got a car there that even without another stitch of work done to it, or another new part installed on it, makes you the envy of most of the guys on this board.
Hang in there Frank. Soon enough you'll have finished one of the finest Mavericks to roll out of a garage. It's getting there!
