Well, I'm new to this Maverick forum, but not to Fords, having owned many Fords over the years, Cougars, Mustangs, Torinos, Cyclones, trucks, etc. However, just a few days ago I bought my 1st ever Maverick. It's a 1971 Maverick Grabber, Yellow in Color with black interior. Rust free Arizona and Texas car. 6 cylinder, but I will plan to upgrade to a 302 soon! Will post pictures soon! Also, I happen to be the president of the Arizona Cougar club, so if you are looking for a Mercury Cougar or Cougar parts, let me know - I can help you with that! :D

    :Welcome: to the forum!

I'm an old Cougar guy myself. I had one of the first 67's (under 200 in production) and a fun 68 XR7 J code at one time. The one that slipped through my fingers was a 68 XR7-G - would love to have that chance again at a G car!

    :)

Welcome to the Desert Mavericks crew. Im guessing you bought the one that was on craigslist wihtout a title? the vultures here were going to part that car out, glad it was saved and we got a new member. BTW we keep alot of local chit chat in a thread down in the "Other Automotive tech & talk" forum.

HELLO ALL, I WAS THE ONE WHO WENT TO CHECK OUT THE 71 GRABBER FROM CRAIGLIST LAST WEEK. FUNNY THING, IT WAS RIGHT BEHIND MY WORK-I WORK AT PHOENIX, PD CENTRAL AVE & ELWOOD.

I WENT TO CHECK IT OUT THAT DAY & RIGHT AWAY I SAW ALL THE GRABBER PARTS ON IT & THE CODE "62D" ON THE DATA STICKER, ALSO CODE "D" GRABBER YELLOW WITH THE FUNNY GRAY/GOLD BUCKET SEAT INTERIOR CODE "9Y" VERY CLEAN CAR, ALSO AN AZ CAR DSO CODE "75". THERE WAS NO TITLE BUT THE GUY SAID HE COULD OBTAIN THE # FOR THE TITLE. I DON'T THINK THE GUY KNEW IT WAS A GRABBER OR MAYBE HAD NO CLUE, SO I DIDN'T LET ON I KNEW EITHER.

SO, THE NEXT DAY ME & 2 BUDDIES WENT BACK & THAT'S WHEN MY OL BEST FRIEND SCOTT BOUGHT THE CAR & WE CONTACTED THE GUY WHO HAD THE TITLE & NOW IT'S A DONE DEAL. YAH, I DIDN'T WANT IT TO BE PARTED EITHER, TOO NICE OF A LITTLE CAR-IF MY FRIEND DIDN'T BUY IT I WOULD OF, SOMEHOW. ANYWAY, GREAT FIND...:thumbs2:
