today im goin to pick up a 71 2 door mav for parts. the bodies in decent shape and it has no motor or trans. my car is a 74 2 door and i was wondering if someone cood tell me how close the parts are to matching. specificlly the front fenders and rocker panels. any othr useful info wood be greatly appreiciated. :Handshake
1974 fenders are not notched in the front for the stone guard/bumper, your's are notched. Pretty easy to make the notch.
sounds easy enough, but i forgot to mention tht it has the slommer canadkan style bumper on it. whether it came like tht or its been put on there i dont know but if it did come loke tht factory do u think itll fit?
lol my bad guys, i was posting from my fone and i shood prolly clear some other things up as well. my car was made in canada and has a slimmer bumper. the 71 i picked up tody also has the slimmer canadian bumper but has the notches in the fender for the larger style bumper. but i have already planned to cut the front foot or so off each of my 74 fenders and weld them to the fenders off the 71 since the 71's fenders are bad at the front and good towards the base and vise versa for the 74's tht i own now. srry if i lost ya haha!
If you are talking about a small front bumper, all 1969.5 through 1972 Mavericks had this common small front bumper along with their fenders notched out for the early stone guard. Your 74 originally had a front big bumper and non-notched front fenders. If you have this small front bumper and co-insiding notched fenders, someone simply swapped the early stuff on to your car at one time. Nothing Canadian only about it
A very rare component only found deep in the far reaches of the western tip of southeast Sumatra, on the northern side...
Not at all lol the only thing wrong with the 74 is the driver side rocker panel and front fender, everything else is pristine. The 71 is crap to be frank. I want to slap the privious owners for wat they did to it. Every piece of it has rust on it in some form or fashion, the floor space just above the trannie area looks like they drilled it with a handheld screwdriver and get this, it has a sheet of metal over tht held down with like 20 self-tapping screws. I coos go on but I think tomorrow I'll just post pics.
The fenders are factory, I can tell by the matching inner paint, and they're not notched. The only reason I said the bumper was specifically Canadian is cause my car is canadian and some "reliable" person told me tht 74's made in Canada were the last and only to be made with this bumper for tht year. Whether this is true or not I have no idea but I am almost 99.9% sure tht the bumper has never been switched but like I said, I don't no the history on which bumpers were made when and where. It wood be some good info to no though
Don't be so sure....could have been made in Canada... Canadian & American Mavericks have no differences.
I no mine was made in Canada, I just can't give a 100% answer as to whether the bumper on it is the factory one. And I have a question. If the fenders are notched does that mean it's supposed to have the stone guard bumper? And if not is it suposed to have the slim one?
