Okay was wondering if anyone knows what color the dip stick top and the trans. dip stick were when they were new on the engine? My tran dip stick appears to have a green paint on the head and part of the loop handle.
And I take it the shaft, where the sticks slide into, where Ford blue like the motor?
For some reason I have yellow or white in my head for the above tops?
    Any and all help appreciated!

Oil dipstick tube...Engine color/ stick...blue...(stick was painted with the engine)Late 70s' were yellow
Trans tube... Natural metal...(some were painted black) Stick was usually (not allways, depended on vendor)Red/black/ or black wit hggreen paint daub to signify that trans had fluid in it...

Funny how the green was still on the cap portion of the dipstick for the trans. Thanks--I thought that had to be but wanted to double ck with people. Again many thanks.

So one can assume then that the pull portion/cap is the same color as the shafft?

Yes oil dipstick handle was blue/yellow
    Trans handle was black/red
The stick/shaft that you read the level off of was allways natural metal.
