The last couple of weeks I have been receiving parts from Summit and the new motor is going together. Today I cleaned out the car and loaded a few more parts in the trunk, so it will be ready to go to the shop this week to have the 6 cyl taken out and the 302 installed and a new dual exhaust installed also. :yahoo:

Mike (Mavmet) came by today. We put the finishing touches on the 70 Grabber. Got the 302 to fire off. Woohoo!! Never thought I'd see the day. Can't wait to take it for a test drive...

Worked on the Mav for 8hrs today. I got the gas tank in the fuel line hooked up, the brakes done. Brought the #1 piston up to top dead center, marked the timimg marks, made sure the rotor in the distributor was pointing at #1 spark plug wire, filled it full of gas and ready to start it then realized I left the keys at home:bananaman............but........then remembered I have a spare set in my wallet....whew. On the 1st few tries it kept backfiring through the carb and shooting gas every where but after checking everything out the vacuum advance in the "new" distributopr was stuck wide open. I got the distributor from the same nationally known autoparts chain as the brake parts that were wrong.:hmmm: After fixing that it fired right up and ran smoooooooth!!!! So, I go to put the tires back on and the stock rims DO NOT clear the center of the spindles...... I decided to call it a day. Next, mounting the tires on my Grabber aluminum slots so they clear the brakes and spindles. Yes, I checked they do fit....lol

Got her back together and drove her home! AC blows cold, heater works, no antifreeze smell, installed the vacuum reservoir on the heater case(so it doesn't go to defrost when I accelerate). What fun she is to drive!

Hydrogen Dioxide has been forming in the lower atmosphere of the planet at my imedeiat location. What does this mean? I applied protective shielding to the exposed metal of my Mav. Please help us alert FEMA.

Just curious, but what kind of airplanes do you work on, Old, New, fullsize or small? I love airplanes, especially old ones.
