Hello everyone, I have just completed the installation of a T-5 transmission into my '72 Maverick and I'm wondering which shift lever any of you guys have used for this. I am keeping the original bench seat, so I need a shifter that will clear the seat. Thanks!
I have had a few different Hurst shifter sticks in mine, from a 8'' straight stick to a 12'' bent.Kind of what your preferance is they all clear fine.
Bryant is that made of chain links welded together? That is just barbaric/cool. I guess that way you can position one anywhere you like.
I'm running a Steeda TriAx shifter ('cause the stock T5 shifter sucks) with a Hurst flat chrome stick I bought from Summit and a Hurst T-handle I've had forever. Looks "period correct". Hurst sticks bolt right on the Ford and Steeda (and probably others) shifters and their catalog has dozens of styles, shapes, sizes.
I have the Hurst stick on the Pro 5.0 shifter. As long as the stick is for a T5 I havent seen a shifter yet that the stick wont bolt to. I was hoping to get a boot on my car last night but the one I ordered was mispackaged, 2nd time too. I called our warehouse and they were all mispackaged, small boot in the large boot part number. So I gotta wait until the local Oreillys warehouse gets new ones in stock. I'll take a pic of my shifter this weekend at our Maverick Meet.
The Hurst stick doesn't even have to be for a T5, mine was for an old application predating the T5. I guess there is some type of "standard" bolt pattern.
Welcome to the site? beerchug: +1, photographs would prove valuable in determining what would appear best.
shifter and console mine is not finish but it will give you an idea of what i'm doing, the console is coming from a 74 mustang that i'm fitting in mine now
Here is a pic of mine.....Hurst Billet Plus with a handle from a earlier kit I had. I did cut an inch off the bottom, redrilled the hole up top, to make it an inch shorter. Works well. Love it!
