Yes....I'm getting that feeling.....hopefully I'll have my tires this weekend..then I better get cracking on the rest of the body work .
Well..after sitting around the Mustang shop earlier today, and having to entertain all the people wandering down from the "Street Rod" shop having a car show, it kinda put me in the mood to do some work. Plus it was kinda weird not to have to work for myself on a Saturday, that's 2 weeks in a row...Damn heating season will be here soon, so I better enjoy the free time.... After seeing what Mavaholic did to his valance the other day, I figured I should get moving on the small bumper swap on this 73...but I had to fix the previous owners attempt to repair the dent around the middle of the headlight, and the first step was to measure out the notch..then I remembered the early fenders I had out behind the garage. They had been patched on the lowers, so they wern't anything I'd use, as they were...it's such a shame, the brown fenders are rust free, just dented....so out came the masking tape, and sawzall... Marked out the rough cut. Off with it's headlight bucket!! Some more of my favorite tape: A little trimming... Almost lined up...I need to clean it up a bit, before I burn it in....(tomorrow, the mosquitoes are bad tonight) Plus a teaser picture...
Thats definitely the hard way to notch a fender Dave...I did see a power rack and pinion in there right??? Very cool...
I guess I am not following about the notch. Why and who needs a notch? Looks like I see a notch on the bottom corner of the fender. Will my 73 Comet need this for the small bumper conversion?
Nice repair on that fender, Dave. Gene, See how the brown fender (before it was cut) runs straight across at the valance. 70-72 had the notch, shown in the repair patch, and the bumper and gravel guard tuck into there.
I gave the piece I cut off the old fender a quick blast today, since it's a little rustier than the fender it's going on, and a quick coating of POR 15 on the inside...it never fails, I get this stuff all over me...everytime!!
Yep! Looks like a r&p to me also. Nice work on the fender repair. What r&p setup is that? Will it require a pan mod?
It's my R&P, it should be a bolt in once I'm done, I'm about 80% finished with what I think the brackets should be..Once it's done, I will list all the parts, and templates for the brackets.
