Nice would love to have that one. Have only seen one other car that color. I have a set of NOS hubcaps that will help that car.
Here's a 70 on the line at St.Thomas, it's hard to tell much from the pictures. I'm going to dig out some of my books and see if it says anything for year to year assembly changes.
I think it is only up so high because the seller states the reserve is the same as the buy it now. You could bid 15999 and the reserve wouldn't be met. I bet if it was a no reserve auction it would be a lot lower.
But just imagine what a 65 Mustang in this condition would go for. This is a once in a lifetime purchase if you have the cash and like Mavericks. If Mavericks ever hit it big, I think it will be the original cars like this....not the resto-mods and customs. Imagine a 71 V8 Grabber or 72 Sprint in this condition.
The seller still has the option to sell the car even if it doesn't hit the reserve. so it doesn't need to hit 16K to sell, but it would be nice if it does. The car is totally worth the money.
Mine was that color (but not for long after I got it). The fender bolts were not painted. Most of the original underhood black paint was very thin and you could see the brown (original cinnamon) paint under it.
Where was your car built Jack? I'm a little under the weather, so I didn't get a chance to dig through the books from St.Thomas, but I also have seen pictures of the assembly line, with the fenders painted off the car. This is all very interesting. I'll try to make some phone calls, and see if anyone kept the pictures when the plant closed.
Then it would be worth the asking price.Sorry guys this thing in crying for a 347.I'm not saying cut it up just some tastefull upgrades. There is a original owner 67 289 Mustang coupe in town here with around 12,000 miles on it,aqua on aqua. Was on Ebay last year and got bid up to a little over $15,000 seler wanted closer to $20,000.Last i heard the owner gave it to his grandson shame...
What a find.. if only I had a "climate controled" garage and the $.. I'd be afraid to drive it too...it belongs in a car museum.. Thanks for posting this cool pic DDB.. Wow.See that guy putting the engine in? The careful loving way he's nestling that engine in? See the other guy under the front bumper? Too cool.
