What does a good nonroller 351 go for in a PHX salvage yard? A yard down here wants 550. for an 86 van motor that runs.

THeres a guy up here that has a roller 351 that he would sell for about that. He's on the 1320stangs board. He put up a post asking what its worth and wants to sell it. hasnt got many replies but hes talking like he wants 5-600 for it. I think its too much but time is money when your pulling a motor at a junkyard instead of just dropping it in the truck and go.

Thanks Ryan. Ill get over there and check it out.
I called a Place in PHX yesterday looking for a block, said he didnt sell just Blocks. He referred me to a place called "Francos Cores, on 20th and Braodway. They want 150 for a block. But they are calling it a core. Guess Ill bring a set of Mics if I check them out. Ever heard of them?

Im haveing trouble registering on the stang site. Got any contact info on the guy selling the 351 roller? this Van motor here is already to drop in the back of my truck. I just cant see buying a whole motor just to get a good block. Oh Well.

Would a local board be useful to you guys? This board is so big its hard to get all the local stuff in one place except for our hidden thread in here. If there was local board setup wold you use it? Im thinking of a couple different ideas to setup on a free board program.

Desert Mavericks. Just like this thread for use maverick guys. with our own classifieds and sections to make it easier to keep track of the local stuff. of course other guys with different cars could join as we refer our friends. and have alocal event section to keep track of events and shows.

Desert Fords. Same idea but more open to other models. We could refer our Mustang friends and others to join. Could help widen the classifieds section and have more input.

Desert Classics. Open to all makes and models with sub sections by Brand. Just an overall Phoenix area board for the classic car guys with no bias. I havent seen a local board like this. I am on other local Mustang boards but they can be kind of selective on who they accept in their group and let hang out with out being beat on.

It would be easy to setup. Just boards seem to take a while to catch on. Would be nice to have something local that we can get our other friends involved in also and build a bigger community of locals that help each other with info, parts, events, etc. But would it be a waste of time?

It is a nice Idea, but if it caught on you might be working on it too much to enjoy it. Im on a couple other boards like Tri Five still getting rid of my 57 parts, so it could be helpfull to me. Most of my 57 parts go to the North East, IL and Mich. Might be nice to find someone closer. It would be nice to have more acess to other ford people to get at some of the crossover motors and parts. Might end up being a PITA for you though.

I found Dart 351W on PHX CL that needs Bored for 900. And a 351W that looks like a good deal. The Owner has a 71 Grabber. Said he was gonna put the 351W in it, but changed his mind for a 302. Hes not a member here. But has met one of us, didnt ask who. Hes measuring the Bore and will call me back in a few.

Craig the time it would take would be minimal.. I could set it all up in a couple houres just sorting out what subforums to use. There are many sites that will host and maintian the boards for free. And I wouldnt be spending the day moderating the board like some non moderators do here. Id only have one rule, like here, no political BS.

I wouldnt want to be a referee in some of the train wreck threads ive seen on some of the other boards. Just saying things can get nasty pretty quick with car guys.

Exactly why there wont be a referee. two grown men having a spat online is pretty silly anyways. and if they want to embarace themselves for all to see and laugh then its fine with me.

Sounds good to me then. It takes too much time for me to hunt down parts on CL in cities I travel to for work. A local consolidated classified board might be the ticket. :thumbs2:

Huh... interesting. :scratchchin: I think it's a good concept.

Hopefully, it won't turn into a "brand debate" between the hardcore loyalists, though. You know... the Ford guys trolling in the Chevy forum, the Mopar guys starting stuff with the Ford guys, etc. Some people might be hesitant to participate in a forum where un-bridled debates replace common goals. Here, tempers are quelled, relatively, quickly because we all have a singular, common interest which over-shadows any minor squabble. Not trying to be "captain buzz-kill" but like it was said earlier: opinions are intense when it comes to car guys. Aslo, it's, seldom, between just two people. Kinda like a bar fight spills over. For a fun experiment, just bring up Imports vs. Domestics in this forum and witness all hell break loose.

IMHO, a small concentrated forum would be great, but, trying to intregrate "car guys" as a whole is a tad dicey.

But, whatever... give 'er a whirl and see what happens. I'd use it. :thumbs2:
