I can't tell anything about your pic, but if that's a Maverick, then that other line is a vent for the tank. It attached to a charcoal cannister on the right fenderwell, just under the hood hinge. If it's not a Maverick, then I have no idea unless it is a return on a fuel injection system....
It's not a return line, it's a tank vent line that went to the charcoal canister as 84stepside said. It's purpose was to capture the fumes in the tank and feed them into the carb. It can be plumbed into the aircleaner if you so choose, the canister and all the BS that went with it are completely unneeded
want to change intake to a 4v .not sure what to do with the extra line from gas tank. my car is a73 montego. it has a351 w with 2 c4.
Can you take a better picture of it, maybe a little back a little so we can see what else is attached. You said the other end goes to the gas tank? Does it have liquid fuel in it where it attaches to the intake?
second fuel line I looked closely at the second line it does go to gas tank. Hoping i can plug down on the frame to eliminate . To make a 4v easier
Some one said it goes to the charcoal canister, yes and you can remove all that junk yes unless your keeping it original. But now if you do some fuel pump studys on some hotrod motors, ive use this ase well. Tank to fuel pump to fuel regulator to a t fitting one line to carb other to a pump back to tank and you have a circulating fuel system, controled fuel presure! Someone had said its a return line to the tank so be it. Thats where hod rod guys develope fuel systems. Did that make any sences..
These cars never had fuel injection, so as such, never had a fuel return line, nor needed one. You could use it as one, but it was never intended to be a return line.
here is the problem. this is a montego. this board is a maverick/comet board. i dont know if anybody here is familiar with the montego. what you are showing in the pic is not used on a maverick. this is posted in the wrong section. there is an other vehicle section in the misc. section. some pics further away would be helpfull. as best as i can tell that is a fitting going into the intake runner of the intake manifold. it could be a vapor line for the gas vapors. i dont see how it can be a fuel return line.
duel fuel lines i found out what the extra fuel line is.It is called SUPPLY LINE VAPOR SEPARATOR .it is there to remove fuel in line vapors in the supply line during high temps under the hood. Sounds like emission junk. Thanks for the help
