Im at the point in my build where I can install a cage and looking at his pics has convinced me its time, 5 Pt harness and all.
Saved is life for sure. I have a good strong bar in mine but it may become a cage real soon. I was going to paint my car but a cage would be better money spent.
F#%K! That's insane. Looks like a NASCAR wreck. I'm glad he's okay, too. Tough guy for scrambling to get back into racing after a deal like that. I'd be writing a, heart-felt, thank-you letter to God and the roll cage manufacturer along with my next purchase order. As for the cruise... when I was there, around 8PM, there were only about a dozen-and-a-half vehicles scattered throughout the parking lot. Nothing looked to be trashed and there were plenty of "cancelled due to weather concerns" signs and law-enforcement officials around. The road flares were still burning bright that were blocking off all the U-turn lanes for about a half-mile along Central. Maybe all that stuff happened earlier? It, actually, turned out to be a nice night. Just chilly enough for a sweatshirt and a denser intake charge. Eric
Well I didn't get a chance to talk to anyone today. But by all accounts it is still going on next Saturday. Hopefully the powers that be will let this slide.
It was a nice evening as well. We arrived at 4pm , took the lightrail to the show(maybe half full parking lot,,,maybe) then went back & ate at Applebee's.Walked out to the car at 7:30(just missed you Eric)and did one lap & left.It was still a pretty good time.Almost felt young again until Roger reminded me the last time we cruised Central together was THIRTY-SEVEN years ago !
Finally got a new Maverick Hotwheels. And believe it or not.......... My wife grabbed it for me. I think she looked because the other day I was threatening to stop by walmart to look for one on the way to pick up some fast food. So they are hitting the shelfs around here finally. She found it at target. I have some spares of the old colors if anybody needs some to complete the collection.
I heard the circle around Metro Center Mall was a hotspot back in the day, too. Talked to a guy at work who said people started going there after the cops started cracking down on Central. Man, that would have been cool to see Phoenix back in the '70's.
Yeah...I cruised Central back in the mid to late 70's in my first Maverick. Those were the days...it was ALOT of fun. There are some stories there for sure!
I was there in the heyday of cruising. I cruised Central and when the cops started cracking down on us we cruised Metro Center. That was an easy one since Metro was less than a mile from home. Eventually it got too wild and they shut it down as well and we all ended up in the desert off 7th street and Deer Valley. They broke that up too after some time. It was all good, but as usual a few ruined each one of them for the many. What I never understood was why they wanted to break us all up. Maybe they thought it was easier to chase down individuals, but I always thought it made more sense to have us all in one spot were they could keep an eye on us. Oh well, I will never understand that. But it was good times and we stayed out of trouble for the most part, it was really about meeting new girls! LOL
It was definitly about the girls,,,good Clean fun. Well there was that visit to the clinic . Just joking........Shut up Roger!!
Careful Resto, you are showing our age! I'm going to hit the big 5-0 this year! Fitting since I have a 5.0 in my car...well actually closer to a 5.7. Anyhow, the Cruise on Central is supposed to be happening this Saturday. The Nancy Perry Productions Facebook page is gone, so I don't know if she didn't like the publicity that she was getting on there or if it was a scam all along. Either way I'm going to be there. I'm starting at Park Central (assuming I can get in) at 1 and hanging out until about 5 there. Then my plan is to head down to our normal spot at Camelback and Central (next to the Applebees). All are welcome to join, be it GM...Ford...Mopar...but preferential treatement will be for the Mavericks of course! Hope to see a bunch of you there. (Oh and you might not recognize my car, I will be the one with hubcaps. Since I've been challenged to drive it there <Ryan>, I won't have the slicks or frontrunners. I'm going in stealth mode. 'Nothing to see here folks! Just a stock little compact car. Please move along.')
