Here we go again, another 70s flashback from Craig. Now the 90s were some good times. Imagine how much easier it is to round up your friends and your girls once the beepers and cell phones were everywhere? Was the term "Booty call" even invented before the cell phones? Wouldnt have been a good booty call if you were calling a land line and the girls dad answered.
I remember the term Booty Call being used in the late 70s on active duty. But it had nothing to do with telephones. I remember a cubicle on the 4th deck of my Barracks being all WMs (Woman Marines). I had the "Duty Watch". WE had a wake up list since there were no Phones in any rooms. I had to take the wake up list into the individual rooms to wake up the WMs. I was on Duty to wake up the booty. It was like a "PX Call" Head Call. We called the wake up duty to the WMs a Booty call. Yupp the good ole days, 72-79. Eccept for Disco. Yuck.
I'm all for the cops having it easier to keep an eye on everybody in the same place at the same time. It makes sense. In my cruising days (10 years ago ) we had the street races on Sat. night by Total Seal near 19 Ave. and Deer Valley. Most of the runs/bets were set up at the Sonic on 35th and Union Hills before heading out. I remember one night there had to be close to 200 people there. We were all watching the drags when a dude on his scanner started yelling, "Cops! Cops!" It was like cockroaches when the light comes on. People were falling and tripping over each other, cars were tearing out of industrial driveways left and right, everyone scattered. As this was all happening a police chopper hit its spotlight and the cruisers and prisoner vans started pulling in and blocking streets. It was a friggin' sting! Never saw one of these before. Total chaos. People were getting tackled by the cops everywhere. My buddy grabs me to get my attention re-focused and we break for his '64 Ranchero at a dead sprint. Nitrous, roll bar, 5-point harnesses, Lexan windows, aluminum bed cover, fiberglass front end... the whole 9 yards. We had to clear two 8' walls, avoiding the crowd, to get to where he was parked. Luckily, he was, already, positioned for a hasty getaway (I guess he'd been to these things a few times before). Hopped in and took off; blowin' the tires off the wheels the whole way. He jumped a curb (screwing up one of his mufflers in the process) to avoid hitting some jammed up cars in an exit, made it to a main road, armed the bottle, and we were gone! Turning around and looking back, I saw the whole industrial park lit up with red and blue lights reflecting off the buildings and trees and a chopper circling above with the spotlight darting here and there. More cruisers were filing in on a side road blocked off with road flares. Man, what a sight. If I had to do it all over again... I would. Eric
Sounds like a real bast. Im picking up a 351W C90E in the morning...Dirt Cheap, already miced the cylinders at 4.030. Ill drop it off at RCs later next week to sonic check the cylinder walls and tap it for 4 bolts on 2,3,4.
Never guess what I did. I fabbed a folding engine dolly. Yes a folding engine dolly....and its adjustable. I think Ill apply for a patent. I had to think of something ...out of this world to clear my incontinence from all impure thoughts of tony and richard (Dick) dancing to the BeeGees while doing the ZUMBA. I would rather endure 3 hrs of silent macarena dancing by the 3 stooges, lady Ga Ga, Madonna and Barrack Obama than even relive such a hellish, twisted menal image. That was worse than some of the Bathtub windowpane in 75. Ill never be right after that. WOO Woo... Woo Woo Woo Woo Woo, Nyuck Nyuck Nyuck...Dont be a drag...just be a queen or maybe something in between, like a virgin. The audasity of Hope. Maybe I can break into the 10s and still be leagle.
What did you guys drink in the 70s? maybe they were the best times. Seems like Craig is still on something, whatever it is I want some too. Dont forget the real Central Cruise is Tomorrow, or Today, or saturday, depending on when you read this. I should be out there by 5 or 6 pm. maybe closer to 6pm cause its going to be HOT out.
Oh ya, Craig if you are getting that 351w that was advertised from Litchfield Park then you will be right around my area. Ill be outside most the day putting a remote start system in the new mustang. Stop by if you arent in a rush to get back on the road.
Back then Yuma was a small town and Steve Nicks was Hot. We drank MOJO. 30 gl military trash can (the one you have to shine to avoid the brig) plastic trash bag. Fill 1/2 full with ice. every body buys a gallon of clear booze, 1 6pac shlitz malt, 1 6 pac orange soda, 1 bottle of Hi C concentrate. Dump it all together. Roll up 3 LIDS of the goooood suff.. Every body with a pick up steel as many pallets as you can stack. Meet up at the sand dunes, with 2 kegs at 19:30 Hrs. Stack all the pallets, light them on fire, Hand out the goodies, cups. Then stand back and wait 4 hrs and guys start passing out where they are standing. The place looked like a civil war battle field just before dawn. Bodies and smoke everywhere. Ahh to be young again. Semper Fi. I had some of the closest friends Ive ever had. Crazy Too.
The one I got was on 89th dr. off the 101. Tight bores, moroso elct water pump, internal balance even had an AOD zero balance flex plate. I stole it for 300 bucks. Im tempted to leave it alone and slap it together with some AFR 205s, a nice solid roller cam and a Vic Jr intake. But my car isnt ready for a motor yet. The guy has a 71 Grabber, he bought 71NOGOs seats fromTUS. Would have been cool to hang out and install that remote start, but I had to have Thing 1 back by Noon.
