Drove it home, in crappy traffic. Glad I got the bugs worked out of the clutch.

Took it to Henry's Muffler in Raleigh. Had the X-pipe removed and replaced with two removable 3" sections of exhaust pipe. Should be able to take down the cross member, maybe remove the tail housing (to get to the malfuncioning governor), maybe even get the transmission out without disturbing the exhaust system. Or, worst case, maybe I'll have to take down one 3' section of exhaust pipe to get any of that out.

They also welded in the sub-frame reinforcements to mount the rear sway bar (attached picture shows it ready to be welded) and put a dent in the DS exhaust pipe so I can make left U-turns now.

The guy worked 3 hours steady on it and the bill was $100. Hope I can send some business their way.

Looked at it for several minutes and found myself lost in in a mirage of possibilities ... then checked my wallet and came back to reality. Sat on the hood and had a beer. Thought about the fact that I cannot sit on the hood of any other car or truck that I own without damaging the hood. Gotta love a Maverick.

Driving the crud out of it this weekend, replaced the bad rear view mirrors, bought the correct wipers and picked up the seat belts. Next week install the Pertronix Ignitor II and go look at another Maverick!

Removed the windshield from my blue 4-door. Going to replace the leaking gasket.

Torqued the adapter and flex plate to the motor...............getting ready to put the Glide on and back in the car..............................

The strangest thing in the picture of the engine bay........if you look at the tower on your right, it looks like some pipe or something is there, but when I went to see if gremlins had put something there.............nothing is there??????????

Pulled the trunk liner, seats and carpet out and vacumed out all the underlying crud. (pulling carpet also required removing kick panels in front and deteriorating, crumbling, falling-to-bits-and-pieces back seat armrest trim panels... what am I gonna do about those???) Checked trunk deck for rust (happy!) Checked floor panels for rust [not so happy:(... everything fine except for area where the flat part meets the upright part leading up to the the under-the-dash area.. excuse my lack of more descriptive, correct terminology). Decided to keep her anyway and commit to a longer term renovation than I had hoped for initially. (Want to drive my Maverick NOW!!!)
