Well the Central Cruise Sucked. Dont think Ill be doing that again. I always refused to go for years and finally went last fall and had a good time. This last weekend was not so fun. I tried to head down central from Camelback and after a half hour to go a mile I gave up and went around the back way to the mall. They had the road merging to one lane at indian school. Why? so that cars cant go 20mph side by side? kind of dumb. And there were so many cops everywhere that nobody was doing the usual burnouts in puddles of water. Then around 9 they started clearing us out of the mall parking lot. I was halfway through my delicious funnel cake. sharing with my kid in the stroller. a motorcycle cop pulls up and tells up we gotta clear out. I was not leaving my funnel cake and cant drive with it. I told the cop I gotta finish this funnel cake real quick and we are packing up. He sat there and stared at me eating my delicious funnel cake for about 5 minutes, then waited for us to get the kids loaded up and for us to pull out before he moved on.
That's a bummer! Well, the races out at Speedworld weren't much better. There was a lack of attendance probably due to the cruise and the heat. It was way hot out there. Plus I went out second round and I couldn't run any quicker that 15.5's due to the heat and the fact that I was still carrying a full tank of gas that I had expected to use up the previous weekend at the central cruise.
Yeah, the cruise could have been much better. The show part of it was fine, but this Nancy Perry was a boat load of crap. I listened to her ramble on and on about how the whole thing was ruined by last weekends antics and mess. Then I spoke with one of the head cops. He said that quite frankly, they didn't give a crap what we did. But that the local businesses were all having a fit about the laws that were broke (burnouts and such), liability because of it and the mess that was left behind. Then I spoke with some people that showed up last weekend and they said that yes, the burnouts were happening but that the mess was from the 30mph winds, not them. So who do you believe? Either way, the police closed down the street and wouldn't even let people hang out on the sidewalks. Like I said, the car show part wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't cruising. Sorry I missed you Ryan. I must have just left as you started texting, because I didn't see that you went to Park Central until I was home. (As a rule I don't check my phone while driving.) We should have another pizza day for the Desert Mavericks at Sardella's.
I hear that the car show up at 83 ave north of deer valley is going on again. Thats the place we met at the first time and had pizza. Maybe we should meet up there and get some food and invade the show with Mavericks. I may be down to go this weekend.
Ya Saturday night. I was thinking about going racing but dont think we will be up for that after a day of junkyardin. but a car show and pizza will be cool.
I could do that one. Still got the street tires in place. The temperature should be nice as well. Assuming it doesn't rain (20% chance).
If the rain gods are listening, we arent planning a meet. we may or may not be showing up at a certain place at a certain time. Will find out for sure as we get closer.
That cop sounds kinda like a dick. You should've taken 10 minutes to eat the delicious funnel cake. I missed the cruise because work. Lookee what I made (the dude standing in front of it for scale is the owner of the house who contracted me and the black tape is holding the pieces in place while the adhesive compound cures):
Eric that looks expensive, its copper right? I redid some plumbing on the water feed line into my house this weekend. for all the copper fittings and brass valves I needed it cost me $90 just to fix that small section on the the front of the house. It was an expensive weeked. Besides the plumbing repair I also spent Saturday installing a remote start system in the 2011 Mustang. Ford wanted $500 to install the system. I found the Ford remote start kit online for $215. I decided to tackle it with some help from my father in law. We spent about 4 hours messing around in the garage and the next thing you kow the car starts at the push of a button. Pretty simple install actually and saved me $300.
Granada Time Machine. Craig would feel right at home in this super clean 77 Granada. http://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/2955571341.html A guy in my Mustang club has it. he has had it for sale off and on for a while. Im temped by it every time. If it wasnt for the wife it would be in my driveway already.
The Granadas never really did anything for me. When they came out I thought of them as Mini LTDs. Everything at that time was being downsized in every aspect of performance. I was kinda depressing Having been throug a High School with a parking lot spinkled with some of the most awesome Muscle Cars. 1970 454 M22 SS, Jim Reinhold 1969 Fire Bird, Larry Gascoine 1969 Judge, Jim Bonnel 1970 Shelby, "Goat" Masters 1970 Cuda, Rory Miller 196? Impala 409SS, "Magilla" Lemell 1970 Challeger, Jerry Full 1955 Belair, Dave Malach 1970 Torino GT Me And there were so many others, some Guys Died in thier cars. It got so bad the year after I graduated the School Banned Kids from driving at lunch,
Yes, sir, it is. 6 sheets of 3'x10' 24 GA copper. He got it for about $154/sheet through our supplier. Retail, I hear, is around $390/sheet. He can afford it, though. This got installed in the 4,500 sq. ft, $900,000 home he just bought in East Gilbert and is remodeling. For a friggin' BBQ backsplash! Layout, cutting, braking, and install from start to finish took a total of 29 hours. This project payed for a set of Caltracs, new 4-leaf rear springs, and a few rounds for the guys when we head to the bar. Glad to hear about the remote start. What made you wanna get one? Warm up/cool down the car before hoppin' in? A smooth install and money saved? That had to make your week. Eric
