no, thats not what I said, the comparison was bracket racing, wether you go 10's 11's 12's or whatever compared to going to the track and taking time shots. I just stated that I have a 10 second car that I bracket race thats it!
Braket racing is the only type of racing a working guy can afford to do. Id love to run in a heads up deal but without sponsors or winning the lottery im out. The funny thing is most of the guys here are spectators either way and even i prefer to watch heads-up racing myself. And just to add to that, theirs a broad spectrum of skill it takes to be a successful driver in brakets. Just running the number wont cut it.
Kind of what I was thinking. As someone who participates in both bracket racing, and the occasional heads-up "street" car event, I can say hands down that the bracket racing is far more competitive...but the heads-up racing pegs my fun meter. I can also say hands down that bracket racing is one of the most boring things around to WATCH...unless you really know what's going on. Watching bracket racing makes it look considerably easier than what it really is. For all the fence hangers who think it looks simple...fork out the other $15 or $20 some weekend and enter the daily driver and get you some. It will quickly become apparent, that it looks a lot easier from the other side of the fence than it really is. But hey...if it's as easy for you as you've always thought...maybe you can take home some extra cash with you. At least maybe it will give a little perspective into what it takes to be competitive week in and week out. My car is set up for bracket racing...and 1/8th mile...because that's what we have around here. I've grown up around the track...and cannot remember a time when I wasn't there on weekends. I also can't foresee a time when I'm not there in the future either. It's just something I do...and probably always will. I've raced, and won, in everything you can imagine...from dragsters, full tube chassied door cars...and even my daily driver when I had too. I've run delay boxes, transbrakes...even raced a 4-speed car for a while...but the most fun I've ever had is right now with my Maverick. I footbrake it, and run Pro and Sportsman every weekend...and I have a ball. I run 6.8x to 7.0x with it (well...I did last year...should be quicker this year) @ right around 100 mph. The fastest I've ever been was a 4.37@149 mph in the 1/8th in a friends blown dragster...basically an old Top Alcohol Dragster based car that was set up to run the Jegs Super Quick series. It was the full track run of my licensing pass...and it was a blast! I can't imagine bracket racing that thing...but he did...and his daughter did... The thing I enjoy most about bracket racing is taking my little sleeper...and putting guys who have 4 times the money in their cars on the trailer! If it was all heads up...I couldn't do that. They will always be quicker and faster...and there is no way I could, or would, for that matter, compete with them. Bracket racing levels the field...and turns it into a drivers race...and gives anyone a chance to be competitive...no matter how much disposable income they have. And by the way...the post about the Stock Eliminator class made me chuckle...other than qualifying...all that is is a bracket race! They put you on the ladder based on how close you ran to the index...but on race day...you still put a dial in on the window But hey...don't take my word for it...take the ole heap out this weekend, plunk down your money...and jump in the game...even if it's just the trophy class...they'll welcome ya in...doing it is a whole lot more fun than watching it!

They put you on the ladder based on how close you ran to the index...but on race day...you still put a dial in on the window" actually thats not exactly true, if you run a car in the same class during eliminations, its a head up run, it may sound easy, but when you run your car in bracket mode, and now you have a heads up run, now you take whatever extra weight you are running the car to be on the safe side, ice it down, drain some oil out of the oil pan, maybe some jet, some timing, some more air in the tires, and run your heads up race, so if you win, you put all the stuff back in for bracket mode, and throw the dial in back on the window what you think your gonna run again, sometimes you dont run till the next day at a national event. not as easy as you think Duane

That's true...but it's not often you have that many cars in the same class...but yes...it can and does happen But for the most part...it's just a glorified bracket race with a WHOLE lot more regulations Don't ever say that to a Stock racer though...they'll get all huffy with you lol...they're sort of a different breed (Yes...I have some very good friends who are stock racers...and I ride them every chance I get ) Good folks though...they're the kind of guys who will look at a table spoon for a minute after stirring their tea...and then point out to you that one side of the spoon is a couple thousandths off from the other side...and be dead serious.

There are many ways to put yourself on the trailer but it feels GREAT to win. My greatest win was I beat a Super Comp Digger in the final with a .005 package. He was pissed...LMAO Racing is so much fun. I will race till I cant drive anymore.
Everyone talks about many ways to put yourself on the trailer, I think it was Grumpy Jenkins that said, "You either win or lose, or beat yourself", those are the only reasons you head for the trailer.............IMHO
We have a few guys at the track that are soooooo good that it's big when you beat one of them. So hard to beat an electronics car.
That's another class I just don't get.....................with an electronic car all you do is launch and steer and brake...................what fun is that????????
