I'm rebuilding my interior and I've put in the peel & stick for the floorboard, but I couldn't find any techniques people have used for the space behind the back seat. I still had the original tar paper, so I glued automotive carpet to both sides with spray adhesive and trimmed it to fit. I thought I'd share because I searched here a while back and couldn't find any notes from people who'd done it. Cheers
Thanks! Mine was pretty bad too. In some cases, I had to guess where the slots would be where it hung on the hooks. I need to get a pic of it from the trunk side. It looks nice. Another trick I forgot to mention: glue carpet on one side, then cut all the slots and the outer shape BEFORE you put the other side on.
So the old one is used as pattern/base, that is a very cool trick! I just ended up using one from a Probe, it fit nicely and it's plastic/foam.
And what is the difference between the two that AK sells other than the $5? I take it that the LDO is thicker materal??
Looks like one is specific to the 72-77 Lux Decor Option. I think if you didn't have the tar paper template, you could still get away with two pieces of carpet glued together. I would just cut the slots for where it hangs, cut out the places where the seat bolts on and cut relief slits for the sides and bottom. http://www.autokrafters.com/v4/go.g...d=687&yearId=1973&&ACESSearch=1&product=31981 TRUNK DIVIDER BOARD 70-77 MAVERICK 71-77 COMET Part Number: TDB70MAV Price: $19.95 USD TRUNK DIVIDER BOARD 72-77 MV/CM W/LUX DECOR OPT Part Number: TDB72MAV Price: $29.95 USD
O.K.....now I remember. The LDO has a thick carpet like "jute" insualtion to the back side. The other is just tar paper.
