When I started this Thread i figured there would be a lot of controversy..LOL I'm just happy to see that there are a lot of us bracket racers on here. Since I dont use my Sprint much I as thinking about making a NHAR Stock Elimanator out of it. Pull out the original motor and trans and build one for racing. It would be fun for sure. Keep my 67 mustang just to beat on.
Simple analogy for those who just don't get it...heads-up racing is checkers...bracket racing is chess. If you're not thinking several moves ahead...you're on the trailer
Thats the hard part, Finding out what to run. I have had bracket cars all my life but never built a "class" car before. lots of research to be done.
sounds like too much thinking to be fun... unlike fishing....you just have to think about what color plastic worm you're going to use...
A class car is much harder to build than your bracket car, kind of like the anology put forth earlier, a bracket car is like playing checkers, and a class car is like playing chess.......................you really need to put some thought into making your car better than the next guy.........kind of "Ole Smokey", and Jr. Johnson.
Robbie if you are really thinking about a class car I could probably help you with some research, we looked into a maverick before doing our foxbody. I still think a bench seat maverick would be cool to race!
Look into a CM/Stock class. If you run the Sprint in a Stock you will have to run the factory 2bbl,intake,heads etc...If in Crate Motor Stock it is a little more open. You just have to run parts that are offered from Ford racing to a certain extent.
Gary Richmond out of Ohio runs his Maverick in a IHRA Crate Motor class http://www.dragracingonline.com/raceresults/2010/xii_8-goodguys-5.html
