I know, I know... Just, paranoid I guess until it's run a little longer. Also I'm really not sure I have enough fuel pump to support this engine at sustained RPMs. I wan to replace it before I go nuts.

Don't listen to the other guys here, do what you feel comfortable with and take it easy for awhile before you go crazy. Kind of the same when we fired the 408 up on the dyno..............I was excited and nervous at the same time thinking............did I really double check the rod bolts, main bolts...
did I space the gaps on the rings...................is this thing going to explode when I push it to 5500, then 6500, then 7000................but it all came out fine and the sound is really nice............................good job!

The base came from some old beast with a 400m, don't recall what car exactly... The top is just a regular old chromed breather top that I sanded, primed and painted. I cut the snorkel down a bit and sealed it at the back; that's just for looks. Got the "351CID RAM AIR" sticker off eBay, and the Autolite sticker. The gasket is a hatch gasket off an Explorer. (I need to get something taller for that to actually seal to the hood decently though.) Above it is a hole in the hood and a scoop.

    Here's another shot of it.

My inspiration was the Boss 351 and the Mach:

Eventually I would REALLY like to do it shaker style...

Ok I finally got into it hard on my lunch break. Tire smoke well into second gear until I had to let off, and I started from a roll. I REALLY need to get rid of this stock open 3.00 diff! And get a better fuel pump. And then go get some time slips. :burnout:

I had the open 3.00 rear end with same results. Had a TractionLoc installed and kept the 3.00 gears. With 235/60 15 tires, I wouldn't want a higher ratio for around town or on the Interstate.

Picked up some 225/50 15 BFG drag radials to use at the strip. They solved the wheel spin problems and, since they were about 2" shorter, gave the same affect as a somewhat higher ratio rear end.

Just something to consider -- that 3.00 ratio ain't bad around town and on the Interstate if you don't have an OD transmission.
