    Well, this is directly related to the Maverick...............put a new 9500lb winch on the car trailer................should get the Maverick up quicker than before.

    If you went to Clarkston past Baskin and Robbins, up the hill past a garage with a picture window showing off the roadster inside to later show up at a house with a mean old Galaxie that was on pinks then you were at Todd's house.

    Where is the engine serial number on a 1968 302? I'm having trouble finding the right pushrods for that engine? Any of y'all know where to look for it? Isn't it on a casting pad on the engine block at the front of the engine JUST below the cylinder head?

    So why are you having problems finding the push rods? Did you change the cam/lifters/springs/rockers? If you did then you need to setup the geometry and decide what length.......................:huh:

    Nope try the side rear, its usually hidden by the starter. dscf0173_889670_original.jpg this is the place on a 69 351. The motor is upside down.

    The engine has got a set of the cast aluminum roller rockers, NOT stock rockers and the guy I bought it from said that it wouldn't idle down well, I'm beginnin' to think it may have a strong cam in 'till I tear it down. Teardown starts tomorrow (weather permitting). Anyway, the dealer @ Comp Cams says he needs to know the YEAR the engine was made to get the correct Pushrods for thier K31-238-3 Cam Kit (Lift I=.493 & E=.500, duration I=262 & E=270) They also sell the rocker Kits for 302's using a "rail" for the rockers but mine are runnin' on screw-in studs. I'll let you know how it works out....kafrompa

    So the ENGINE serial # is behind the head, foward of the bell housing and above the starter on the RIGHT side (passenger side) of the engine....Thanks

    Ok, but since you have roller rockers (aluminum not the cheap steel ones) you don't have to worry about "Rail Rockers", as you don't have them and if you have screw-in studs, do you have guide plates. The stock "rail rockers" were used because;

    The only true way to find out what length push rod you need is to do a simple measurement.............you can buy a simple "testing push rod" for like $12, and this article tells you how to test for yourself, for you engine, and it's great practice for next time...............you will learn so much more than talking with a guy that doesn't know your motor from a hole in the ground at the other end of the phone......................IMHO
