Alright, so I went and got myself into a jam here:

In considering paint colors for the '77 Mav, I all but decided on a most interesting shade of green I have seen popping up lately. After running into a late model, Mustang, with this color at Kinko's - I find out from owner of said, Mustang, that the color is "Legend Lime".

Google tells me that Legend Lime is the new grandchild of Ford's classic "Lime Gold" which was sprayed voluminously in the 70's on - you guessed it, Mustangs :yikes:.

So my question for the Purists out there; Dare I cover my Mav in a color largely regarded as a Mustang exclusive (I know i've seen the color on cars other than Mustangs, but Google tells me so and the 'Goog don't lie).

I figure there are 3 answers...

1.) Do and you shall be regarded as a Heretic
2.) Paint it anything you want, its not like your putting a pony emblem on the trunk.
3.) That would be the ultimate smack in the face for the members of the Mustang Militia, we want to buy the paint for you :yahoo:

    So which is it?

I'm also leaning toward a silver base with orange candy... so I do have options if the consensus is burn me at the stake.

Being a true purist doesn't matter much in the Maverick world. The general and most accepted feeling is you own the car, therefore you get to paint the car whatever color tickles your fancy. You want to go Plum Crazy purple with Sublime Green spots? Have at it! The only thing that does matter is that you are happy with the color you pick. The only sugestion I would make is to pick a color that goes with whatever color your interior is. For instance; a green or yellow car with a blue interior would kind of look a little flunky.

I would of done the purist route...it was my goal to restore to factory.
But I learned quickly that's a frigging waste of time and effort, not to mention money for me right now :bananaman

So..I am doing whatever I want on this build. Sure made whats possible a lot more fun, knowing its not going to lower the value my car not restoring it to historical purist standards. :dancing:
Hell putting that into words, just made me realize I will never do that with any car as I don't plan on selling cars I build with my own hands EVER. :yahoo:
