Well the place was m.i.t in San Diego and they said they made the housing out of a 450s. If I remember right it was about 800 bucks just for the housing. And the 3rd member was 3500 bucks and whatever all the other stuff cost. I'm no expert but I know the guy that built my engine pretty well and this is what he tells me. He has no reason to lie. I can ask him again. He wanted this major rear end in the car cuz he said the next engine he wanted to build me would have about 1000 hp. And my c6 he had built for me he said that would handle it also

And the u-Bolts are huge that came with the housing. The same size as the 450s at work

You cannot use Strange axles with a Moser spool or vice versa. Can't use MW axles with a Strange spool, etc, etc, etc.

Ok. Did a little research with the google machine. Found a company called east coast gear supply. They got a 9" full float that has f-450 unit bearings maybe that's where I got f-450 from. Then I found schreiner enterprises and they have a full float 9" with 40 spline. Does this mean anything

It's not worh arqueing about and yes it is not uncommon for a article to have typo's as the information is usually wrote by the car owner. Ive provided you with information and how you decide to use that is your choice. Just like the 1k h/p motor you talked aboutid have to have proof of whats in it when its built and dyno sheets because its gonna be mega buck.

mark williams and summers brothers used different angles on there splines than all the rest of the axle/spool manufactures.

when you are in the 35/40 spline axle realm you really need to use the same brand spool and axle. but a few weeks ago we ran into some strange axles that didnt fit the spool that they were shipped with. the spool was wrong. strange exchanged it and all was good.

common axle splines for the 9" are 28,31,33,35,40.
39 could be a custom 1 off made set up but i really doubt it. the cost could to high when you could just get 40 spline.

when using 35 and 40 spline you need a 3.25 bore case. this refers to the carrier bearing bore size in the case.

the larger axles are too big for the stock ford carrier bearings to have enough room for a journal on the carrier. so they use bigger bearings which require the biggier bore case. it is possible that these bearings are used in the f450.

Yes, it is a typo. No such thing exists.
