I cleaned most of the parts but what I didnt he is. Ill post pics when I get the parts back. I cant wait to see the burgundy dash
ok went out and bought a newer mustang from end to get on my car eventually. got it used for $140 complete from end to end. it needs some repairs like the steering shock thingy (I obviously have no idea what its actually called lol) needs replacing or new seals one or the other and it needs a good sand blasting and powder coating to look like new. otherwise no new updates. still waiting on all of my parts to come back from powder coating. CANT WAIT TO SEE THAT BURGUNDY DASH
update ok Ive been busy busy at times on my car. I have done tons too it since the last update and have tons more in the works lets start with the greasy old engine bay got that mess cleaned up decided it was time to get rid of that old faded paint after spraying the engine bay after that it was time to get the powder coating back from the shop then it was off to assembly after that it was break time for a while now weve been back at it got the doors and fenders back on engine and trans in and connected (still need to adjust shifter cable) and got the hood back on thats everything already done for now but much more in the works the seats are getting closer to being done every day. the headliner and sun visors are already done. I sand blasted one half of my back seat frame and painted it the other half was in almost perfect condition. and with both of them getting a new coat of black laquer paint they are as good as new again. the pattern is already sewn up and awaiting the finishing touches before going over the original cushion (I know you think Im cutting a corner reusing the original foam but its still in perfect shape its not all dried out and it still has lots of cushion to it.) and a layer of new cushion will help reinforce the soft but firm feel. the seat frames are getting the best treatment possible with new wires for support and new burlap to keep out the moisture and for extra strength. the engine is running very strong and tomorrow Im taking it to a guy that knows alot more about high performance engines than I do and hes going to fine tune it for me once thats done IM done with this set up for a minute. a little history about my engine (youll understand why Im explaining the history in a bit just keep reading) its a stock 302 with an extreme energy comp cam with a 512 lift I can never remember the duration I put in new springs and lifters to go with the cam. a new high volume oil pump I also installed a air gap intake from edelbrock and went with an edelbrock 650 carb I also put on a edelbrock circle track water pump for a high volume water flow. I almost forgot I also have headman headers ok so now that thats all explained Im going to pull the engine from a 4 door I just bought and have it rebuilt and go from a 302 with all of the above and original iron heads to a 347 stroker bored .030 over maybe more the work hasnt been done yet comp heads and all forged internals I plan to get another cam with more lift I believe the kit comes with new lifters and the heads I just have to be sure I dont over do it on the cam lift Ill have the heads and intake ported to match if needed. with the the cam I have now the machine shop said I should have around 470 HP out of that motor . Im going to do what I can to squeeze more out of this build. it all boils down to the money Ive spent $2200 so far and have around $850 to go without a new cam and lifters. I just have to wait and see how things go with work. now that the motor is done its time to move on to the rear end. I dropped off a $500 deposit at the rear end shop and picked up a 8.8 rear end from a 95 expedition from pick n pull for $96 out he door with a 13 month warranty. the rear end shop says 31 spline axles are going in with a full spool and hell shorten the whole thing to fit with my choice of gears for $1250 total okay folks thats all for now but all that feels like a huge leap
dropped the car off at the transmission shop to finally get my LOOOOOOOONG park issue fixed will most likely be ready to be picked up monday maybe tuesday Ill have to wait on there call once I finish up stripping the parts car its off to the machine shop to finish paying for the stroker kit and heads
ok couldnt stop with the last set up. I am still sticking with the 347 but its getting upgraded even more. instead of my old cam Im going with EVERYTHING new including upgraded forgred h style connecting rods the new cam will be a 6.00 plus lift new heavy duty forged custom ground crank main bearing gurdle arp bolts for the heads and the gurdle new sump pan. different aluminum heads bore is going to be .040 over. and the hp is going to be over 500 :bananaman update on the money ok the original $3k is paid off now after upgrading and going for the 500 mark I now owe around another $1000 I paid so far $100 towards the last upgrade. now Im considering a tunnel ram and two 4's or a super charger. both are expensive additions so those will be a little later definitely next year unless a retarded good deal comes by oh yeah started minor reconstruction on the car. the wiring is all fixed and hooked up except the heater wiper and head light switches. other things already finished. got the under the hood wiring cleaned up and hidden. moved the battery voltage regulator and starter cilynoid to the trunk. got the tail lights cleaned up and ready to go in. I took the car to the guy around the corner and he adjusted this and that on the carb and checked the timing. went to take the car home and it was NOT happy so first thing when we got it home we had to undo what he did. mike adjusted the timing a bit and changed the vacuum and now its running even better than before the transmission is finally fixed the LOOOOOONG park is GONE I have a great park nice and short. as of now Im trying to track down a good heater box and a perfect grille once I find them then I can start putting the windows dash and headliner in.
