My New Baby… We'll I did it, I bought a Mav. Happy to have found the site and looking forward to (continued) reading and posting here. Had one long ago and thought if I ever run across another one at the right price in the right condition I would get it, we'll I did!!!! It started about two weeks ago, I found a powder puffed sweet heart. She belonged to a super nice 93 year old lady. Single owner car, always garaged but does have a few small dents and other normal wear and tear. Overall, she is in excellent shape with only 68k original miles. I was able to get some of the maintenance records and the original build sheet with the metal vin tag (unbelievable). She's a 1972 Automatic with the 200ci power plant. She made the hour drive home with flying colors, runs a bit rough and in all honesty I was a bit nervous. The PO's son said she had not had it above 40 mph in 20 years. It was only driven down the street to grab groceries and other light errands. Felt a bit of a harmonic surge and the breaks are brutal. There have been no modifications what so ever (except the after market Sears A/C back in 72). I also forgot about the steering as well (so how many turns lock to lock LOL!). I can't believe she's sitting out in the driveway.. The wife has lovingly already nick named her the "chocolate turd", don't worry fella's I'll convince her otherwise Pics: http://s325.photobucket.com/albums/k378/kboldin/Maverick/?albumview=slideshow Good to be on the site, looking forward to the adventure!

to the board. Nice looking ride. I got my 73 Comet the same way. Original owner 84 years old, always garaged & only driven to the store & Bingo. Way to go!!!
I appreciate the warm welcome! This weekend I’ll do another “go through” I spent about an hour and half looking through the car when I bought it. I’ll give her a good tune and change all fluids and see where I’m at. I’m thinking “for sure” front disk brake swap and replacing the points with Pertronix. I’ve tuned plenty of points in the past but that solid state unit is hard to beat. Also, don’t know if I like the A/C, it’s a little cramped in the foot well and currently is not working (it’s in the “we’ll see” column). I’m sure my next post isn’t far away, again thank you for the kind welcome!!
Nice looking car. I to was lucky enough to find a garage kept one owner car here in town. It makes the project a lot easyier as you can drive it and do things as you get the erge. Enjoy.
