Hi there, I believe i have a leaking heater core, there are some drops of fluid coming from underneath the dashboard on the passenger side. If it is the heater core i guess its just the rubber seals or could it also be the core itself? Can someone advise me where to find the right parts, i live in the netherlands, i don't think there is a place that sells it here. I searched on autokrafters.com but i'm not sure which type i need. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for your quick reply. i found a couple at rock auto but not sure which one is the right one. Can i only find out by taking it out? What else do you think i should order to be sure? And how would i bypass the core? Sorry for all these questions
Factory A/C cars used a different heater core compared to cars without A/C, engine size doesn't make any different. If your car is a factory A/C car, you'll find that it is the same one as used on a 69 Mustang, and if there are any local Mustang guys, ,they may know where to get one. Where in the Netherlands do you live? My wife's family is originally from Zeddam.
It might not be the heater core leaking. If the heater core is leaking, you will see steam on the inside of the windshield, and you will smell anti-freeze inside the car.
I just looked at the pictures you posted, you don't have factory A/C. So, a 69-70 Mustang (without a/c) heater core will work, according to my interchange manual.
Thank you all for your replies @coolvettes It's a v8 302 @craig I have'nt seen steam on the inside so far. The fluid that is dripping is not warm and is a bit brownish. I just guessed that it is a heater core because it seemed to drip a bit more after I added coolant. @DDB, okay thank you do advice any parts like seals for the box, I read about those on some other thread. Please forgive me if I ask stupied questions, I don't know much about cars but I like to try to fix it myself but as I think I need to order the stuff from the US I would like to try to order all the right parts that I need. I could try to so the bypass as coolvettes.suggested but even then I would not know where to begin I'm living in leiden, its about 2 hour drive to zeddam, which is pretty much driving straight through the middle of holland from coast to close to almost german border
I would like to suggest...take the new core to a radiator shop and have it pressured tested... I bought one new with a leak in a seam, didn't know it until after cranking the car...
Ok thanks for the tip! Coolvettes pointed me to rock auto for the heater core and I found the seals for the heater box at autokrafters, do you think i need anything else to be sure? Also today when i wanted to start the car, when i turned the key, i heard a weird buzz, i dont think its was my radio speaker because my radio is not yet connected, but it did come from within the dashboard, somewhere in the middle... When i started the car i could still hear the buzz, only after turning my car off and turn the key a couple of times, the buzzing sound dissapeared. Any idea what that could be? Thanks again!
The buzzing sounds like the seat belt warning buzzer. It is reminding you to put on your seat belt. One of Ford's Better Idea's back then.
Haha that's interesting so how does it suppose to work then? Would it just buzz when u would get in you car but no like actual sensors in the seatbelts that u actual have them on or not? i will try to see if i can locate that cable tomorrow
