this started in another thread where we discussed painting my brothers car satin black...

"This isnt for my car but wanted to get some advice from the paint experts. My brother is leaving for Officers training, some kind of fast track program is what i hear. Im not real versed on the military lingo. So his wife call sme yesterday and said she wants to get his Falcon painted while he is gone. She said he has talked about wanting it flat black.

Well flat black wont look good for long. But what about a satin black or some form of low gloss black that is still washable and wont fade or chalk up. Ive read good things about DuPont Hot Hues Hot Rod Black. But still not sure if I should change his mind for him and go a different route to make sure its something that would be good long term. His car sits outside all the time so it needs to be something that holds up.

    Any advice is appreciated. "

We ended up choosing gloss black and got the car started. My brother got home saturday and we designed the stripe on Sunday. He went down and gave the instructions and picked out the colors for the stripe on monday. Here it is after paint. still waiting on color sand and buff and then reassemble. Looks pretty damn sweet. He was totally stoked about the suprise paint job.

this is the front of the fender with the chrome held in place. the blue stripe is slightly bigger then the chrome and the chrome stops in the middle of the door and the blue stripe continues.

:thumbs2:Geez that looks like a different car with the new paint. They did a very nice job. Whose shop is it? Might be worth a trip to PHX.

Its a small place called Julians Garage. This is the second time ive used them. they do good work for the money. Cant wait to see it after its sanded and polished and the painted grill is on it.

Total cost will be $2200. thats for a total color change, painting all jambs and bottom of hood and trunk. also had the gas cap shaved and holes filled from emblems that wont be put back on. Includes the paint, body work, cost of the pinstriper who laid out the silver stripe by hand and color sand and buff. pretty good deal Id say. Looking at 3 weeks total time from drop off to pick up.
