anybody on here have moroso trick springs on there maverick or comet?going to install a set if they make them for our cars also getting a set of cal-trac 90/10 front shocks and a set of cal-trac bars for the rear.any advise would be greatly appreciated. john
Maybee just a fluke but a friend of mine only got 1 season out of a pair of Calvert shocks on his Stock Eliminator camaro.A pair of Competition Engineering or lakewoods mabee your better buy.
front springs are the key to weight transfer, a tall spring with a low rate gives you alot of energy, i think a stock v8 maverick spring has about a 260lb per inch rate and about a 15 1/2 inch freeheight, the spring to use was the 64 comet wagon spring, they were almost 18 inches tall with a rate of about 225, that spring is long gone from trw, and now most of the coil springs are vari rate, if you can find a new set of straight rate 200 6cylinder maverick springs they are a good choice, small block mustang guys have been using them for years. if you call Eaton spring they will have them. I run Cal tracs, but run Koni spa1 drag shocks front and rear, the Calvert shocks are ranchos, some people love them, some hate them. With a 9 inch tire, caltracs, konis, and the 6 cyl maverick springs my car runs 1.46 60 fts and goes 10.60's at 127 mph, so it works for me and to answer your original question, there isnt a moroso spring that will work for you Duane
I am also running stock 6 cylinder springs, although the car has had Competition Engineering 90/10's for a long time...............also have limiters on the front..........but the've been there a long time also. When I preplaced the lower control arm and strut rod with Global West components we will see if I still need the limiters................the front suspension is just as important as the rear.....................................IMHO
i found moog springs at summit but there are 3 different sets for 6 cylinder mavericks also found the comp shocks but they are 3 way adjustable lakewood has a set of 90/10s what do you think olerodder
Sorry, I do have the Competition Engineering 3 way adjustables on both the front and rear.................the one thing with the 3 way adjustables are you can adjust them.............or just go with the standard 90/10's, whichever your pocket book dictates. What spec's are on the Moog springs............I assume they are different rates, or are they different lengths also? One thing to remember about new springs is that when you put them in they will over time settle............maybe 1/2" or a little more.
List the specs for the springs, you want the tallest! Lightest rate spring, somewhere I had an old TRW catalog that. Had all the old springs, judt make sure they are not varicoils. Duane
thanks guys this helps me alot i will have to go to moog to get specs because summit does not have them listed
