Got a few pieces in paint tonite. For some reason the paint photographs blue but its a bright purple :hmmm:. The color is called Purple Crush Pearl. You can see a little purple in the close up picture.

Try to shoot the pics without the flash, maybe the purple will show up and the blues will fade.

    Very nice :thumbs2:

Did you find your hood lost some strength when you removed the underside ribbing? My own project design calls for removing mine is why I ask :)

I debated a long time between red vs purple. Finally went red, but I really like purple. Can't wait to see it done.

He did not remove the underside ribbing...he cut the entire center of the hood out, grafted on the bulge from a donor hood, and made a cowl induction hood out of it!

But in his first photo, showing the underside of the hood now purple, all of the center bracing is gone

Yes, it is gone because it came out when he cut out the center section of the hood, opening it up for the scoop.

In essence, he took out the scant underhood bracing, and added a solid overhood brace.

I guess I'm not talking oranges to oranges here - my hood is only a stock flat hood and I want to take the bracing out since it doesn't work well with the large hole in it for the carbs to stick out :)

Mav1970, you can do that, I had one once but it does make it flimsy. not unusable but it has the frame around the outside and nothing in the middle and it will flex corner to corner. Just want to be careful.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Check the white balance on the camera, if you're shooting with a flash on set it to flash. If you're shooting in incandescent set it to that, etc...

What the white balance does is add and subtract colors to make it look normal, having it set to the wrong one will change colors. If you have image editing software they have a white balance fix tool that does an "okay" job at fixing it.

Thanks, The hood still is very rigid. Was going to make custom bracing, but I really liked the look once I cut it out.

I will have to try that. It even looks blue even before I take the picture.

Thanks for posting the pictures of the hood for me. :thumbs2:
