My car has been painted white with blue stripes. It's starting to chip in a lot of places. There is a cowel leak and there is some a small amount of rust on the bottom part of the front windshield that's covered by the gasket. There is rust and fiberglass work that was done by PO on the rear quarters.

I want the car to still look decent as far as paint but I don't want to spend the money and down time to fix all the other problems before getting a long lasting paint job. So what are my options? Can I have someone fix all the pain chips? Can I have it stripped down and just repainted for now with minimal body work? Since I don't want a super fancy paint job, maybe something good for another 3-5 years can I go to an Earl Scheib or other type of place or can I have someone do a decent paint job (with the blue stripes) for cheap somewhere else?

Leave it like it is, and get the all mechanical stuff figured out, then have it painted.

Vinyl wrap is getting popular around here. I really like some of them. You can fix the rust spots, epoxy them and vinyl wrap it till you want to strip it all and paint it properly.

I don't know if I'm ready to jump on the wrap wagon, it is an interesting idea though and I've seen some very nice cars wrapped but I have a feeling the nicer jobs are pricey.

Dont wrap it thats sooo ghetto.. and it doesnt hold up in the sun. sand or chisel the rust, (ASAP) treat with any phosphoric acid "rust buster" kind of fluid then touch up paint with a 1/2 inch sponge brush. Later you can sand all and paint all yourself..

So your saying I am ghetto and other who have wrapped their mavericks are ghetto... way to make friends :D

$1200 to wrap car was quoted $7 k before , but you can get it done professionally for $1200 or do it yourself for $800-1200 depending on pattern.

I agree. Fix it or it will get worse. Then you'll end up spending more in the long run.

I doubt he meant that you as a person are ghetto, I think he thinks for someone who is looking for a full paint job a vinyl wrap is not the solution. I use the term ghetto myself to refer to things I don't particularly like but honestly I wouldn't take it seriously.
