I've heard the old guys talk about the yards being full of big block mustangs, and fairlanes. Picking up factory muscle parts for nearly nothing, or just walking by, because it was so cheap. I never thought I would ever experiance that... untill today. I stumbled upon a Grand Torino today, just happened to check closer, and found a 351 CJ! (Yeah I know, its not a boss, or a closed chamber motor) I was excited, to say the least. I was in the mustang, so I had to settle for the heads. Best part was $30 for the pair!
If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore. (And all the Maverick parts would be gone). Thats why I go with my Studebaker buddy, we don't compete for parts.
Yeah. The 351 CJ. Not SCJ I don't think there was anything special about the heads. But the possibility of a 4 bolt block makes it slightly more interesting. My friend said all Cleveland's can be made into 4 bolt blocks pretty easy.
From what i heard the cobra cleveland engine was 10 to 1 compression ,solid lifters and stock holley 4 bbl. what did yall hear? That would be a Grand Torino motor.
My 351 CJ 4V Cleveland came out of a 72 Gran Torino Sport Q Code car. 9 to 1 compression, open chamber heads and hydraulic cam----but a 4 bolt main block
