I only have 10" slicks on the car. Room for way bigger! The Cleveland engine has boss heads, 780 CFM Holley, 2" stainless tube headers, MSD 6AL ignition, electric water pump and radiator fan, 3500 rpm stall speed converter in a C6, Dana 60 with 4.11's and sommers brothers axles, rear 4 link, mustang 2 front suspension. I built the car from a basket case of parts that the previous owner was going to turn into a funny car. I don't know much about the engine other that it has the Boss heads, roller rockers, and a very high lift cam.

sound like that motor may have no power, it doesnt have stud girdles with stock boss valve covers on it, who knows what cam it has, pistons, with 2" headers and no compression or cam, it could be just not a matched combo. that motor needs to spin around 8000 to make good power, and you aint doin that with 4.11's

    Duane

the 351c is a great motor for making power, you just have to do some oil system mods, and dont overbore it past 030.

X2 with Boss302Maverick. Very nice looking piece though, just sounds like the motor is not putting out much power................and you should be running at least 4.56's although the converter stall is very low for the motor.......IMHO

Apparently the 1970 Maverick I own, was once owned by Sam Auxier Jr. and was raced in Pomona at the first ever pro-stock meet.

I wish I could find out more history about who owned the car in between Sam and myself. It was in Indiana for a while running a six with 3 side draft webers.

The 1970 Maverick I own was Sam's 1st Maverick and ran a 427 Cammer when Sam drove it, then when Chick Deninno drove it, it had a 427 Tunnel Port engine. The last owner, prior to me owning it, cut the floor out and sold it to me as a basket case. I built the Alston eliminator chassis, and assembled the car. I started dragging it again this year.

My ex Pro Stock Drag Maverick has a Dana 60 with a spool and Sommers Bros. Axles. Should hold up just fine...I think.

yes, i think your covered, what are we gonna do to get more power out of the engine? LOL if you want to keep the cleveland, i can suggest some things, and you can make from 500hp to over 600hp with most of your parts. that thing will be in the 10's in no time!

I have 255's now, I measured and thing I could fit a 10.5" wide tire if it stays under 26" tall. I have 16" wheels which is hampering my slick choices....

If my c4 doesnt slip I blow the tires of this thing in first and second :burnout:

I have faith in the 8" rear end.
