Hey everyone, I am new to the forums, as well as the world of car restoration. My boss and I are working together on restoring a 1972 Maverick Grabber i6.

We seem to be having trouble getting the car to idle at all. It will turn over, and stay running as long as you give it gas, the second your foot comes off the pedal it dies.

We have redone the electrical (coil, distributor, points and condenser, spark plugs, wires). And recently cleaned the entire carburetor and re assembled it with all new gaskets.

Anybody have suggestions as to why it won't idle? Would very much appreciate the help.

When we checked it was clear and totally fine. No sign of residue or rust.

Spray carb cleaner around the base of the carburetor...if the idle speeds up then you have a leak. Are all the vacuum lines hooked up?

Is there a possibility that it has something to do with the idle screw setting?

Carb was intact and we didnt need a kit. Just some simple cleaning...
