1969 Mustang Shelby Chin Spoiler on a Maverick

    I think the Eliminator got a different spoiler...I do know in '69 they were a different spoilers for the Boss 302, 429, Mach I and Shelby, Both Boss's got a different spoiler for 70 but the Shelby got the same spoiler it had in '69. I don't remember what spoiler got carried over for the '71 Boss 351 or if it was different than the earlier year spoiler. In other words they were about 6 or 7 different spoilers between '69-'71

    Exactly. Thanks to Nick Dominick doing some research at Carlisle one year, he discovered which spoiler perfectly fit a Maverick. Lucky for him, the Tony Branda booth was located right across the aisle from a guy selling a Maverick front valence. Lots of walking back and forth to see what fit.

    What is Branda's part number for the correct front spoiler, Craig? I went to the site and selected Shelby Parts, then 69-70 and only came up with a fiberglass unit. Didn't you say your's was plastic?

    The no longer make the spoiler in plastic. It only comes in fiberglass now. But....it is cheaper now.

    FYI... I was given a normal 70 mustang chin spoiler today and it will not fit without hacking it up.

    just a friendly FYI here for anyone who cares. If you install some washers with rubber grommets it will spread the loads out beyond just the screw heads and help to avoid fracturing and/or cracking should the spoiler get bumped at all. These glass pieces get brittle over time as well and even just the vibration alone can do damage, fracture or cause crazing after a few years of bumpy roads.

    Another trick used on my last Ford Fairlane was to use the old small block ford valve cover load clamps(stainless are best). They do an even better job of spreading the contact loads of the screws used. (y)

    PS. Don't the 67-68 Mustang chins fit these cars better with improved rake angles over the one you chose there?

    Not criticizing because yours looks decent.. just curious for future parts choice with my build. Thanks

    You could have two cars, what looks good on one may not look the same on the other! You got to account for wheels, color, trim, and most of all personal preference. What work for Mr may not work for you. Do your thang, stand out, be different. Depending on the wheel/brake setup I use, I might put one on mine. I love it on his car, looks factory if you didn't know .

    Sorry for the late response.. but the earlier cars were smaller than the later gen's.. so generally speaking.. you will have a smaller spoiler to match the smaller valance the earlier you go. I see some here have also used 65/66 spoilers too.
