I agree. I bought the 71 parts car so I could get the stainless for my side windows. Makes it look more like a hardtop than a post car to me. Now I have to try to get it off the door frames. Any easy way to do this?
The guy who did the body work on my doors told me that he used one of the old 2 sided can/bottle top openers to get my trim off
You only got the trim in early models (up to 72) with the "Accent Group". Beginning in 73 you got drip rail and wheel opening molding, but that's all. If you bought the "Exterior Decor Group" or the LDO option, you got the door window frame molding, but then the wheel opening molding was taken off! You could also (most years) buy rocker panel molding. I've seen a few, but not many. Most people bought what was on the lot and most dealers ordered their Mavericks as economy cars, not loaded ones.
Got any pic's/links of that rocker design? I even thought of modding some rocker trim from the 71 Torino GT's(I loved mine and always prefered the 71's over the 70's for that very reason).. but they ain't common or cheap if you can actually find em'. I think some chrome or stainless rockers from another car would look killer too if you wanted the extra bling.
I just have the pics in the sales brochures. None of my Maverick's had any. It's not very wide. It does not completely cover the rocker panel like it does on, say, T-Birds or full size LTD's.
