I read somewhere in this endless vault of knowledge that some of you have used and aftermarket seat belts to convert from the older 3 piece to a newer style 2 piece on a 72 model. Any links or part numbers would help. I would also like to purchase a matching set for the rears. I have searched in the past and found the information but did not save it and know I can not find it again.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I bought these for the front http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Custom-3-point-seatbelt-seat-belt-fits-1949-1972-/190707375663?_trksid=p4340.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222001%26algo%3DSIC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D1874228555936429151%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26 But...they are made for bucket seats. The female belt was too short so I bought these to rob the female belt http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CER-SJSBBLACK/ I cut the lap belt to thread the extension hanging from the roof rail and had the local upholstery sew the buckles back on. The female belt was too long and the buckle was at my chest instead of my pant pocket so I cut the mount off and cut the belt to the correct length and took it to the upholstery to have the mount sew back on. This took care of the front seat belts. With the parts left over from the two kits…I used them for the back seat. The back seat belts don’t have a reel so they just lay on the seat. Both kits used the same style buckle but have a different Logo sticker. I also told the upholstery shop this was to hold the ice chest to the rails on my pontoon boat in case they said something about it was against the law to modify car seat belts. They didn’t charge me a dime for sewing the belts and for the record I don’t have a pontoon boat.

I have factory bucket seats. I also swore someone posted up about having to get the 8 inch drops for upper rear attach point.

Thanks for the mention on the drops.

These are from mid-90s Ford Passenger Van (mine was a church bus :thumbs2:) and they really look like they are made for the car ....

I do have the front seats installed now, and these drops place the belts at a very good height. You will need to take the belt unit apart to thread the strap through the loop, but it isn't that bad to do.

Do you have a picture with your seat belts installed? I would love to see how you mounted yours.

    I have 3 point belts in my 72 . There from a LNT 9000 ford semi .
If had to install them over again I would move the center anchor from over the the window to at the top of the " B " pillar...

So far I have only mocked them up, but I believe I ought to be able to use the stock anchor points for the original lap belts. I have a set of belts by Autoloc. The retractor and the end of the belt itself should work OK with the original fitting in the rocker.

When mounted that way, the drop comes forward at almost a 45 degree angle. Very comfortable height at the shoulder.

I used 3-point belts with a shoulder extension from Andover Restraints. The drop does really make a big difference. Even so, as was just mentioned, the anchor point really needs to be moved forward to at least the post, or what I'm doing, moving it to the factory location on the later cars, in front of the pillar. I know it puts the belt more in the way of people getting in the back seat, but for short guys like me that have the seat pretty far forward, it's a royal pain to have to reach all the way into the back seat to grab the seat belt to pull it forward.

Also, the mounting for the buckle end of all of the aftermarket belts seems to be the same, and for bucket seats, it pretty much sucks.

I'm 6'2" and have no probem getting in the back seat with the belt attached above the B post with the front seat all the way back.

I didn't use the drops yet because I might use the Turbo Coupe seats I was thinking about installing after the body work is done. They have guides mounted at the headrest level that should route the shoulder belt properly. If I had the headliner out, I might consider moving the upper mount to line up with the B pillar. I never understood why the upper mount was so far back.

So if you would move the upper mounting point forward to above the B-pillar would you still mount the retractor in the forward part of the side panels?

Would you still use the drop arm?

If you used the drop arm do you mount the seat belt retractor directly below it or will it force the seat belt forward into the cutout in the side panels?

I am sure it will all make more sense once I have it all together but I want to make sure I order the right stuff the first time and mount it correctly especially if I have to cut an opening in the side panels.
