So, I tacked it in, finished up the front and the top, but I had to slow down for the night....I don't want to upset the seniors...it's past their bed time around here. I put a little weld-thru primer on the top, just to see how it looked. Then, I figured I'd try a head light door, to see how the profile was, almost exact to the way they fit on my green car..
Didn't do much tonight, I bolted on a factory early fender (that I had in the attic, since 2000) then loosely bolted up the valance just to see how it's all fitting. I figured I may as well use this fender, and keep the brown one for my 74.
After a day in the Electrolysis bath (Thanks rthomas771) , and a quick clean in the sand blaster, I coated the first small bumper bracket, in my favorite brand of Rust Inhibitor "POR 15", some small pitting, but they'll work.
I got one side done today, then got side tracked....I used the method described here: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=44352 Thanks Fordmaster169 !! I've been looking around over at pro-touring.com...I've got a few new ideas for this car...
Front bumper swap complete!! I need to do a lot of fitment, and twisting to get it all right where I want it, but this car hasn't had an engine between the shock towers in almost 10 years, so who knows how it'll move once the weight is on. Next step, finish up some welding, some grinding, then it's off to media blasting (if it was only that easy)
After 2 coats of paint stripper, and a quick buzz with the da, I finally got all the nasty glue off the roof, this wasn't the factory glue, it was almost like ABS glue...Next is some spot blasting to get rid of some of the rust stains...
