today i took the comet to the frame shop to make sure its straight before it goes the the chassis shop for its cage.
i got my car back to day. it was good and straight. i found out today the chassie shop i was going to have build the cage in car moved out of town last week. that changes things. i think im going to take it to autopower for the cage work now.
LOL... You flat towed an empty shell!!! I love it! Bet that was a bouncy ride!!!(Not to mention drafty) Bummer about the fab shop though...Fortunately you cali guys have an abundance of speed shops and fabrication shops... PS: So how did that car do, stopping that big truck at the traffic lights???
Lookin good Bryant! I remember when that accident happened.. I was like "Noooooooo!" Look forward to following the new build. Keep it fun Also like the Megasquirt idea. My old roommate used one when he turbo'd his Beamer. It was pretty cool! Computer readout to a laptop in his passenger seat. Hear they've started being bluetooth compatible since then too!
it was the first time i got to "drive" the car. the throttle was not very responsive. today it took the car to autopower to be caged. they did jayman's car to be nhra and scca legal. im asking for the same requirements. im going to try to build this car to be easy to adjust to go from street driver to drag racer to auto crosser. mostly through the use of adjustable shocks and other suspension components.
I thought you were going to fuse together the front of your maverick with the back of a comet? I havent been following this thread but I must have missed it somewhere. I coulda swore you already cut your old car in half. either way that comet looks nice, it will make a really easy replacement for the maverick minus all of the labor to build it. but the fun is in building the car driving is a bonus
im putting the front sheet metal from the maverick on the comet shell. no welding required. it all bolts on. right now what is missing off the front will be replaced with the maverick stuff.
i got my car back from autopower today. i had them put a cage in the car. i asked them to make it nhra legal for 10sec and to be scca leagle for the local auto cross. i also asked for it to be as tight to the body as possible and for swing out door bars. this is the results. i am very happy with how it turned out. i cant believe how well they followed the A pillar line. this is my third car with a cage and this cage is by far the best one yet.
Wow, looks amazing! So a 10sec cage and SCCA legal does not need bars that go out to the front? Cool!
