Accidentally put 1/2 qt ATF+4 in. Am I OK?

    Just topping off my C4 which I usually use Type F in, and after I dumped in half a quart, I noticed I had grabbed the wrong bottle and put in ATF+4.

    Will it hurt?

    Can I drive 100 miles (round trip) to car show in morning?

    I am not sure, but I can't imagine a half quart would hurt too much?

    I was rushing to get the car ready for an early drive early tomorrow morning, and grabbed the wrong bottle. I have three different kinds of ATF in my cabinets...:hmmm:

    Trust me, If someone knowledgeable pipes in and says it will destroy my transmission, I will be VERY embarrassed to show up without my car tomorrow morning. I don't have time to swap it out, either.

    For what it is worth, the Type F is pretty new, and has less than 300 miles on it. I am only topping it off to replace the stuff that has leaked onto the garage floor over the past summer.

    I was told from my trans shop to use dextron 4 or typr f they said the mercron had a higher burn point and wouldnt hurt anything so I dont think youll hurt anything

    A pint shouldn't hurt it a bit! It holds 8 or 9 quarts. :thumbs2:

    I only use mercron in my C4. My trans guy says it works better than the type F

    Alright! I am on the road to the car show this morning with NO WORRIES!!!

    I figured there was at least 8 qts in there, and a half qt of the wrong stuff shouldn't make a difference.

    But you all know how much I worry...:rolleyes:

    I was told years ago that the difference in fluids was that either Type F or Dextron had an extra ingrediant to take care of the type of o-rings in either the GM or Ford trans but I don't remenber which way it went but as others have already said - that small amount should not be a problem :yup:
