That thing looks GREAT in the turns! Did the body roll seem excessive? Why do you think you need bigger sway bars? I've been following your build closely since I want the same thing as far as handling is concerned and you have really raised the bar. Awesome job! Congrats!
The front suspension was a direct replacement for the existing. What will impact your offset will be the brakes themselves. Typically they will specify the offset from factory. My Wilwood were .25" wider than stock... for a mustang II which helped absolutely none when trying to figure this out. You'd likely be OK. Just add a little more camber. Im running 1.5* which worked great for the performance driving.
I have oversteer as well as what looks like body lean when comparing pics of my car to the competition. Going to a larger front bar will reduce oversteer. But I dont want to go too far and have an issue with understeer.
What about a different spring or coil over setting if its an adjustable coil over. I would think a stiffer spring rate atleast would help.
The springs are already pretty stiff compared to what is recommended for the car. It feels pretty stiff driving down the hwy. I can stiffen up the shocks themselves to help a little which is what I did this last weekend. It helped some but certaintly not the way I would prefer to do it... I think. An adjustable bar would be ideal. You want a stiff bar for a road course and a loose bar for tight autocross. Or so I've been told.
I thought this was a really cool photo. So I bought it. Prob the only one of my car I will have. Looks like it launches pretty flat.
Car looks good, I have the same front suspension you do. What width are your wheels and what back spacing did you go with. I'm heading towards the 10 anniversary cobra wheels but don't know what back spacing or width to go with. I'm also thinking of the explorer rearend but also with the sn95 rearend i can avoid spacers in the rear. Thanks
It appears Ive failed to list my final wheel size and backspacing: Front: 18x9 5.125 bs 265/35-18 Rear 18X10 4.75 bs 295/35-18 notice my wheel arches are not stock. The above fitment will not work without modification.
Thanks again. Im in the market for new wheels and tires. Your build really helped me a lot with a more aggressive tire combo. I just pray they fit right.
Two nice color pictures of your car in the Goodguys Gazzette this month for the coverage of the Texas event. Looks great!!!
Thanks. Went to the online version and copied them. Finally some photos on GG that are more than postage stamp sized. LOL Unfortunately, they do show how badly the car rolls in the corners.
