I went with some friends up to gateway saturday and took the maverick down the track a few times. First run was a 12.5 @112 2nd was 12.43 @ 112 and the last was 12.23 @ 114 that was with a mild 347 with 7 lbs of boost 3.25 gears and street tires. I was only hoping for a 12.5 so I`m totally stoked right now ! I`m building a nine inch for it now with a locker 3.50 gears and I`m ordering some et streets unless some one tells me of a better tire. I hope to be in the 11s next time I go.
Good numbers! I think 11's are there with a 347 and 7 psi. Also good to see another fast 4 door! Any pics or video?
very nice. i assume your boost comes from turbo? if so you may not like the 3.50 gears. most turbo cars i set up the gears for end up with a ratio around 3.20. a turbo likes the load on the motor that high gears create. im looking forward to hearing about the results of the rear end change.
I believe he said in another thread he was using a cent. supercharger. I don't know much about supercharger setups but don't they use about the same gearing as N/A setups? Too bad we're not closer I'd let you try my gear and see if you wanted to trade, my 3.80 is too much for my car now.
if he is supercharged then, yes he should benefit from the gear change. he has GV in his car description, if that is a gear vendors then i would go with a lower gear like 3.89s not 3.50s.
Thanks guys ! I`m going with the lower gear not so much for the quicker 1/4 mile time but because it came with the free 3rd member. I put a wide ratio gear set in my tranny when I rebuilt it so that helps a little also. Oh and its a paxton sn89 blower.
