I cannot see it well enough, why do you think Chevy? Scroll half way down, is that the same engine: http://www.gapponline.net/tag/juana-taxi/page/2/ Nevermind, found it right here: http://www.gapponline.net/2010/07/26/1320-notes-may-1976-super-stock-and-drag-illustrated/
I thought they ran 351 Cleveland based engines and wonder if they weren't also using crank trigger ignition at the time. Bruce
Thats a very BBC looking engine...Look at the water pump inlet on the block...Dead giveaway to Chevy lineage...
The guy to the left in the picture looks an awful lot like the late "Grumpy" Jenkins...................notice the stogie hanging out of his mouth.........
this link that mercgt73 posted explains it. http://www.gapponline.net/2010/07/26/1320-notes-may-1976-super-stock-and-drag-illustrated/ it says they were installing it in that pic but never got it working. sounds like donor rejection!
yeah.. at least until he gets stuck in the cat's house! Either way you get ostricized. Chevy guys will disown you.. or the Ford boys will get the shotgun out! Pun intended.
what get's an even funner reaction is to park next to the Chevy guys in your Chevy running a big block Ford. Priceless.
Uh oh here we go again. They are all just big air pumps to me anymore. Rather see a Ford powerplant in a vintage car though. Especially a car like the Taxi.
I seen this first hand but it was a SBF. The chevy guys were acting like a little 5 year old...tattle telling to everybody who walked by like it was against the law. Some has their sleeves pushed up on their arms looking for the owner. I was waiting on a fight to break out.
When you are hot rodding a car/truck/taxi..................everything if fare game. Here is a little Falcon with a blown Flathead much like what I had in my Model A Coupe................or how about a 347 SBF in a Camaro???????
Not to " stir the pot " either, but a lot of folks use Chevy engines simply cause they're cheaper to build! It's not that I hate Chevy ( I've had a few I really liked ), I just like Ford better!
