As I start getting trim polished and ready to go back on the car I am wondering what is aluminium and what is stainless.I assume the front and back windshield trim is the only thing stainless?

The front windsheild is stainless as is the side window mouldings and gutter trim. .. Rear window is anodized aluminum as well as hood trim. Boomerangs are chrome plated pot metal.

Headlight and taillight aluminum ... not familiar with side trim ... but my guess would be stainless.

The side marker light bezels are vacuum chrome plated plastic - about 1975 it changed to just painted plastic. Plated ones pit just like metal and can be cleaned by hand with a product like Flitz and a bit of 0000 steel wool.

    Halo roof is anodized aluminum

If in doubt, a magnet will stick to the stainless parts.

Thats great to hear about the magnet. I know not all stainless will stick to a magnet. I think it has to do with the amount of nickel used.

Yes, something is different with the alloys but I don't know what. I remember from working with industrial metals, that 400 series stainless will attract a magnet and is more likely to rust and wear - and 300 series does not attract a magnet and is tougher and more durable. Most car trim including Ford, is made with a 400 series stainless and will attract a magnet.
