I finally got my bead roller. I've read these may need some beefing up to reduce flexing but not sure if I will of not since I'll probaby only be doing straight rolls. The main body is 1/2" thick....I can't see that flexing much.

I also need to make the hood scoop fit the hood. My dad told me that when he was fitting his pro stock scoop to his Maverick he removed the mounting studs and taped sand paper to the hood and gently slid his scoop back and forth for a good fit. That seems like the easiest plan provided the studs come out of my scoop ok.

Picked up some sheet metal to day to give the bead roller a try. This might be fun.

Ok the bead roller did end up flexing quite a bit so I'm going to have to weld some reinforcements to it. Either 2x2 square or angle iron.

I just got this in today and man is it cool. A metal shear. It cuts straight lines with little to no distortion. Beats trying to cut metal with snips. Also cut curves when feed rear to front.

Thanks...not pro stuff but all I can afford. The latest is a shrinker/stretcher. Figured I'd need this for fab'ing wheel openings and probably more later on my Cyclone.

Mounted it on a stand but it needs some adapting.

Played around with the bead roller and made a trunk drop for the rt side. I won't need the whole panel I made since the rust isn't that bad on that side. I used the lt side as a pattern. It will still need some triming and straightening. I really had to torque the bead roller down with a die that big and it deformed the metal some.

Got my drive roller in for the MIG welder today so I can run .023 wire. Also scored a set of 70 Maverick taillights.

If the weather and holiday plans cooperate I hope to start welding the patch panels in the quarters soon.

I put it off long enough....took the hood off so I can finalize the Duraspark harness a little easier. Next the fenders come off so I can fix a couple rust spots. Gonna finish up the steering and suspension stuff while the fenders are off too since it will be a little more accessible.

Got the frt end off and other than some really rusty bolts that I had to spray rust penetrant on there weren't many surprises. The fenders both have rust thru at the inner brace from them holding road dirt, as I already knew.

There are a few spots behind the fender that sealer popped off and there is some surface rust but nothing bad. The worst I found was that the lt inner apron has some rust thru under where the fender bolts on.

I've been waiting on some supplies to come in, but I've been surveying the cowl areas and would urge anyone that is fixing up a Maverick to pull the frt fenders off and redo all of the seam sealer on the cowl and outer kick panel areas. All of the factory seam sealer is letting go on mine and it could be a big problem later on if I didn't re-do it.

Planning on getting a full days work in on the car Saturday. :thumbs2:

I had to remove my cowl top to do the internal repairs to the vents and what seam sealer, that was still fully intact on my cowl cover, flaked apart once disturbed so that is good advise while the fenders are off the car :thumbs2:

Thank goodness my cowl isn't leaking, but now that the fenders are off I looked up in the drains and can see some leaves and debris. I'm gonna blow all of that out and try to do something to protect the inner cowl. Not sure what yet.

Eastwood sells something to coat internal frame rails - it is the pea green stuff you can see in some of my images - it is aerosol but comes with a long plastic tube so you can send it into frame rails through small holes in the frame - this may work for you going in through the external vent grill and the drains :)
