Here it is right after I got it in spring of 2011 fresh off the trailer
    $1000 Beauty
She had a 200ci and a three speed on the column
(holy:evilsmile)gas tank, front factory seats were gone but it had some bucket seats sitting in the floor board, column was in peices in a box in pass floor board, the brakes(of course) didn't work, and I just touched the muffler and it fell off

step 1. put the 3 speed column back to gether(Enough to steer at least)
step 2. poured gas in engine & wala she ran(guy didn't know if it would)
step 3. install 3 speed floor shifter
step 4. new master cylinder and front brake hoses(would not flow at all)
step 5. fab new seat mounts
step 6. lol use 5gal gas can as tank(located in trunk)**temporary of course** for first drive
step 7. go for first drive

Then I began working on installing a fuel cell

Here it is in Feb of 2012
after I put the new discs on the front and new front wheels
at this point I still had the 8" four lug on the back so I purposely cut off the back of the car...lol I also painted the grille and headlight buckets black and added the black vinyl on the hood and around the tail lights
    [IMG]

you can see how i did the front brakes by taking a look at my tech article

What is the 8.8 out of and how much did you have to take off of it ?

Looks like you did a great job on it, nice tires.

The 8.8 started out in a 98 EB Explorer
and I stripped it of all the brackets and sand blasted it
then took it to a local guy that owes the drag strip here and he narrowed it to 1" over all lenght less that my stock 8" rear end including the brake back spacing differance, so with the rotors on the axles its 1" shorter than a mav 8"
I also bought and had him put on the new style torino housing ends on it for a c-clip eliminator, so now it uses the small 9" wheel bearings but the explorer brakes still bolt up

    Still putting it together but
silv-o-lite 30 over hypereutectic flat tops w/ 4 valve relief
scat rods w/clevite bearings & hastings rings
    factory crank
    with all new ARP bolts
gt40p heads -& yes I know about the spark plug issue(ill get to that later)
Comp bee hive springs(matched to the cam)
Comp thumper 283 hyd roller cam
    link bar hyd roller lifters
air gap intake and demon 650cfm (Eventually going fuel injected)
bottom end ballanced at my local machine shop
but I'm doing the assembly myself

Sorry don't mean to ask to many questions, do you happin to know off hand what the length is on a stock 8" is, backing plate to backing plate ?

I put an 8.8 in mine around 98 or 99, it's out of a 92 Mustang, if i remember correctly it's 1/2" wider from leaf perch to backing plate on each side compared to the 8".

If i'm reading my old notes right the factory 8" in my car was 51.5"
from backing plate to backing plate and 56.5" from wheel flange to wheel flange

    Thanks Maver,

I have another 8.8 out of a Couger, i wanna see how much difference there is between the Mustang, Explorer and Couger's there is or if they are all pretty much the same from plate to plate.

I do know that the explorer is 59 1/16 from axle flange to axle flange
and the pumkin is off set, so one side is longer than the other
and is "longer" over all-i think, than the mustang & couger
But explorers have 31 spline axles & usually lower gears(mine came with 3.73 and a limited slip)
the guy that narrowed my housing took like 3" off one side and somewhere around an inch on the other to center the pumkin
