anybody had theirs restored and plated? my old one was so beat up i threw it away and all ive been finding are used ones with a couple dings in them. i think theyre reproduced in brazil but that doesnt do me any good. this is where autokrafters should step up and get some of that stuff up here. it wouldnt be cheap but i think theyd sell...its such a visible piece i dont want to paint my car and then put a beat up molding on.

i had a ding in the front of mine.. I channeled a piece of wood, as a form, then was able to pound the moulding against it back into something I can live with. New ones are very rare and very expensive.

There is a guy in North Ga that refurbishes aluminum trim parts. Ive never used him but Ive seen his work. His name is Carl Bartholemue. Maybe someone one here knows how to reach him. Good luck!

The Hahn boys in Somerset, Ky. restored a few and they look like brand new. You might try getting a hold of "Slick" on here, he works for them, and see if they would be interested in doing yours. Seems like I heard them offer to do it before. And they are maverick/comet people.

There are several places that advertise in Hemmings, etc that offer to restore and polish trim. I had all the pieces done on my car at a place in Hobart, IN. They were able to take out the dents, polish, and make the pieces look like new.

They showed a company on one of the powerblock shows that restores trim and it was amazing what they were able to bring back from the dead.

How would one go about procuring one of the ones made in Brazil? And would they be the same as ours?

I seem to recall I got all the trim done for $500

GEO on here was seliing them. Not sure if he has any left. I see him every Fall and Spring at the Columbus Swap Meets, and at the last MCCI Roundup Nationals, and he hasn't had any of them with him. They are made from stainless and are very heavy. Otherwise, they are deadon accurate.

Does the stainless match up well with the aluminum headlight bezels?
