Its like zinc dichromate used to protect aircraft. I sprayed that stuff from eastwood into every inaccesable area on my mav project. It does indeed cover everything you blow it on with that hose and nozzle.

I think this is the stuff: http://www.eastwood.com/internal-frame-coating-w-spray-nozzle.html

I have never used it either, but I think I will be. :yup:

I originally bought 2 cans to get the insides of my rear frame rails coated but I've used it is other places since. Trying to use the cans up before they go bad :)

Christmas present to myself....a mint trunk. This came off the same car I got the quarter panel off of. The one I had on it just didn't fit good.

The rain has gone away finally and the temps came up to the 50s so I backed the car out so I could up the garage a little. I went ahead and flushed out the cowl and hosed it off under the hood so I could be letting it dry. I've got the inner frame treatment already that I'm going to use in the cowl once dry just to protect it. All cowl seams need to be redone and it needs a couple patches put in the aprons.I'm thinking I may buy another rt fender before I start the bodywork since that one had been damaged before and repaired.

I figured I'd set the new trunk I got on to check the fit. Fits alot better than the green one I had on it.

Right now I'm going to focus on getting the cowl protected since it's not leaking. I'm going to blow it out good tonight with air and make sure it's good and dry inside before I coat it. Thinking about drilling 2 holes further back in the sides of the cowl so I get everything coated as good as possible.

I also emailed the guy I got the rust free trunk and left quarter panel section from to see if he still had the rt quarter. He responded that it was already gone. :(

I have listed the 2 other trunks on Craigslist but no bites. The original has a couple rust spots on the outer lip. The green one is rust free but I wasn't happy with the overall fit. It didn't match the curvature of the quarters as well as I expected.

Made a trip today to pick up some sheet metal. 12 hrs travel time but we did stop for meals and to walk our little girl.

Finally got a rt quarter from a member here and a good rt fender off of Craigslist. The only other thing Maverick related we didn't do was look at a V8 Comet 4dr with low miles that I need for parts for my 68 Mustang. Maybe later.

Looks like my frt bumper will be heading to Tri Citys Plating. I talked to them today and confirmed the pricing. Plan is once it's done, I'm going to drive there and pick it up...then spend the weekend in Gatlinburg.

You may have seen I recently bought a low miles V8 4dr Comet to part out for my Mustang.

The Comet also has a mint blue dash pad and a nice windshield that I'll use on the Maverick. Looks like the 4dr rear armrests are the same as the frt 2dr. The power brake stuff might be nice on the Maverick also. Maybe a few other odds and ends too. The LDO dome light is nice. AM/FM radio works great.

Now that the weather is starting to warm up, I hope I can make some headway. I have been collecting a few parts I needed for the next phase which is the dash area and windshield.

First step is pulling the windshield so I can paint the dash better and replacing it in the process because it's a little clouded. I've also got a new heater core, dash switches and thinking about adding a few dress up items like the lower dash bright trim off the Comet and maybe a woodgrain LDO insert if I can find one. The Comet has a very nice dash pad so I'm in process of getting it out.

I took the steering wheel out of the Comet and re-dyed it to use for now in the Maverick since the horn pad is broke in the one on it now.

Next I pulled the windshield. Now comes the fun part....cleaning off all the old sealer. :(

The old windshield is still in one piece. Lets call it plan B if I break the one I'm taking out of the Comet. ;)

Oh and looking at the pictures I should tell you that the rusty dash is my fault. Back in the 80s Auto Shack (now Auto Zone) used to sell a spray on window tint. A buddy of mine talked me into doing it and we started with the windshield. Yes we were that dumb. Anyway I had to clean it all off with thinner and I rubbed most of the paint off the top of the dash.

Like I said at the beginning, alot of this project will be fixing my goofs and jury rigging as a teen.

The front bumper should be done at Tri-City Plating this week.

    The steering wheel looks great.

I am so glad you posted this ... my daily driver Explorer has the Light Denim Blue interior and that spray looks like a perfect match. I saw it was Rustoleum brand in your photo album, but can't see the name on it (thumbnail photo won't open). Can you please post the code or name on it when convenient. I have been absolutely paranoid that any vinyl dye I got off the shelf would spray too dark, and on light blue, there would be no going back ...

How fortunate that both cars have blue interiors. Parts for both your cars... What a score! :thumbs2:

Is that hood emblem as nice as it looks on that Comet? If so, someone in parts wanted is looking for one. Most of the time the red fades out of those lenses. If it has chrome issues, I may want it for lens. I have good bezels here.

That Comet looks to be in great shape for the most part. You will probably be able to sell the LDO side trims pretty readily too. I'll bet the interior is nice too.
