Does polish stainless steel look like chrome?

    im going to buy some beauty rims, so im looking at the ones they have and the ones im wanting are 2 1/2 deep and they are polish stainless steel finish while the ones that 1 1/2 deep are chrome finish... from the pics on the internet of the ones that are stainless steel they look chome, i dont want to get them and there dull... somebody help plz:huh:

    Yep, the centers of my Cragar SST's are polished stainless. Still looks like new chrome after 20 years.

    Another yes.. I'm sure you see in the ad it says polished stainless steel.
    I seen alot of people call some of the pieces of window trim we have chrome when it's actually polished stainless.. most of it anyway.

    It does NOT look the same I can tell the difference from 40 feet away.

    Chrome has a bluer tint than stainless steel...and more depth.

    Good chrome does...cheap production chrome does not!

    yep.. bluish/black it is. Not nearly as different as polished AL but there are some distinct differences as you work the color of final polish stages. I polish the stuff quite often and it's tough to get all the various types of metals to match up when placed next to one another. Especially if you're discerning of such detail in things. Also known as anal retentive. LOL

    On the other hand.. probably close enough for most folks and we just have to do with what we can find or afford sometimes.
